Having said that, I do like to bloom my soaps, and I use the bloom water as a pre-shave to hydrate my beard. It also makes loading far quicker, maybe reducing loading time by 30% or more.

No preshave anything for me as anything I tried killed my lather just the same!! My opinion on blooming is if you have to your using the wrong soap, brush, or maybe even both...

I have used quite a few in the last one decade and out of them I admired Dermalogica (discontinued now) and Acqua Di Parma Collezione Barbiere series of aftershaves the most. Worst of them being Art of Shaving ..

Preshave oils help me in winters when my skin is rough, dehydrated and lacks moisture.

In summers I hardly use Preshave oils as the current quality of soaps produced by artisans is good enough to take care of day to day needs of the skin.
