Never felt an inclination to try the pre-shave oil. I used a glycerin pre-shave soap when I first started wetshaving, the main benefit of which was that it made my beginner face lathering with VdH soap much easier. Haven't picked it up in a couple months, maybe I'll revisit it.

I use a glycerin soap for a preshave as I make my lather and I found it beneficial for me. I had a puck of PAA sandalwood pre shave soap from a pif, but now that it's almost gone I will use the VDH glycerin soap instead of replacing it.

Tried it, but it didn't do anything to improve my shaves.

I meant to use a pre-shave oil before my shave last night and totally forgot and just started face lathering.

Maybe an after dinner espresso to keep the mind sharp :-)

I used the Proraso pre shave cream once and it didn't do a thing for me. I think quality soaps and a sharp blade make the preshave creams unneeded.
