I think I'm dealing with some eczema on my cheeks as of late, probably from wearing a mask. I don't shave often enough for it to be related to shaving directly, I don't think. I do usually use an aftershave on my face daily to keep things moisturized, but I've been avoiding putting any on my cheeks as some aftershave scents can really spike the flare up more so than others.

I have a dermatologist appointment on Thursday AM. does anyone else deal with flareups? if so, have any OTC creams helped you keep it under control?

When not too strong, I use vegetal remedies:
• Cardiospermum, a cortison-like plant
• Arnica, for the skin "thrauma"
• Calendula, for inflammation
When medium strong:
• Vit.A cream (Tocopherol)
• Cortisone cream (Hydrocortisone Acetate)
A quarter of inch each, mix and apply two - three times a day.
No sun for one hour after applying. Not shadow, under a roof.
When very strong:
• Diprosalic ointment (under Rx)

Take care about soap. Better to use syndet.
I love the natural ones, with oat / rice powder.
A bar of this is good as normal soap to clean, with less foam.
But do not irritate the skin, and leaves a thin layer that protects.

I've seborreic dermatitis from four decades, and I'm pharmacist from two.
I've tryied mostly all thing in the market. These works fine on me.
Hope the same for you.

Masks block facial skin from oxygen and probably result in blocked pores.
I wouldn't put any serious steroid based creams on it.
Start low level....orange blossom water is a fabulous tonic.
Research it.

I think the Dermatologist is best placed to to advise and prescribe on what to use - especially steroid based cream. Soaps allergens are a common cause for face/skin irritation, possibly best using unscented natural based soaps, also emollients to moisturise your skin are worth trying meantime... and get a new face face. Best of luck on Thursday

forgot to mention. seen the dermatologist last Thursday, as expected, and he diagnosed my issue as irritative dermatitis. rather than washing my face with a glycerin based soap, I've been using cerave hydrafting facial cleanser followed by a sample of curel lotion. so far it's going fairly decently, not perfect, but definitely not as red nor am I expiring the intense tight and warm feeling on my cheeks like I was a week or two ago..

Glad you're getting at least a measure of relief Andrew
