Hi blaze.  You have to have 15 posts on the site.  Once that happens you will automatically be able to do both.  Sadly, we had to implement this because some of our members were getting some pretty awful spam and this was a way to stop that.  

Just enjoy the site and after your fifteenth post, you'll be good to go.

Dive right in and start participating and you'll have the requisite 15 posts in no time at all!

we've adjusted it to 10 posts and 14 days registered. that's why you can't send PMs or reply in the b/s/t section yet.

I had this same question, now I’m trying to catch up!

I now have ten posts and I’ve been a member for a couple months, does it take awhile to access that stuff or should it be automatic?

there's a task that runs every few minutes to promote accounts accordingly if they meet the promotion rules.
