Hi DFS,

I am hoping to use the knowledge of the group to get a sense of the differences between the knots currently being produced by PAA. While all are synth knots, I don’t have any idea what sets them apart from each other other than width/loft. Does anybody have experience with multiple of their knots? Any comments on handles is of course welcome as well!

I know Mark MarkB has (or previously had) several of their brushes. Hopefully he'll see this and share his opinion.

We also have one of the gentlemen who run PAA in house CaD314 , and he's fairly active. I'm sure he would be happy to give you some additional info.

mrdoug thanks for the reply. I own and really enjoy the Atomic Rocket, so I’m wondering what the other brushes are like.

I think Doug does a great job on his website giving a description of the handles, their history, and the design and development of each one. But, I haven’t seen any sort of comparison data between the knots in terms of stiffness, tip softness, etc. on the PAA website or really on any of the forums. Knowing that this forum typically has good relationships with vendors and that many vendors are active here, I thought this would be my best shot at getting that sort of information.

I asked this same question a while back:

Question - is there any difference between the Peregrino, Rosewell, and Starcraft knots? Or is it just the handles that are different?

Answer - yes, essentially. There are always small variations knot to knot but they are the same style. Same density, arrangement, knot size. yes

I have previously used the Amber Aerolite and Atomic Rocket.
They were both very similar in feel and were good brushes for the price however I prefer the Apshaveco 2Bed knot or G4 Synthetic.
