Hello Wet Shaving Community!

I have a question for all. I would love to learn the differences between the four personna blades that are available for us to use. Anyone who has information, experience, opinions, anything about these blades. Please feel free to share. Thank you all for your help.

Attached I have photos from www.westcoastshaving.com

Always interesting to see what folks have learned about the convoluted path of the Personna.  Years ago I spent some time studying all that but haven’t revisited the issue in a long time.  Looking at your pictures, the first one is the Medical Prep blade.  USA made and sold to the medical trade for surgery prep.  It’s a great, sharp blade.  2nd pic is the Personna Comfort Coated often referred to in the hobby as Lab Blue because it once was offered in a blue wrapper and sold into the lab and lab samples market.  It too is USA made and reported to be the same blade as the Med Prep except the Prep has some sort of additional cleaning.  3rd pic is what I know as Israeli Red Personna.  Made in Israel and a good blade but to my face not as sharp as the two previous.  I think I read somewhere that Israeli plant was closing production?  4th pic I believe is what is knows as Personna Crystal and to my cheeks is very similar to the Red box.  Also made in Israel.  This blade was often found on the shelves of USA drug stores.  How correct is my info?  Well, I think it’s good but I’ve been wrong once, I think.  By the way, the 2nd picture Comfort Coated is my favorite blade.

Wow! Thank you so much for your reply. A lot of great information. I like personna blades, I currently have the personna comfort coated blades, they tend to give me really nice shaves with little to no irritation.

Ditto here... Comfort coated are my go-to these days. A great balance between smooth and efficient.

I've also been told (right or wrong?) That Personna makes a LOT of store brand blades. If that's true, you have the potential for dozens of different Personna blades. Those are probably just one of the above, relabeled. If it's true. Still... They do seem to have a rather chaotic marketing setup.

Lipripper nailed it. Only thing to add is that Personna packaging changes a lot. For Lab Blues the only consistent thing is that they say Made in USA on them. So look out for that if you’re interested in those blades as they (and Med Preps) are the only blades made in the USA.

All good blades, I quite like the Israeli Reds. Good info, a quick update on the final pic (plastic tuck), from west coast shaving description:

Known previously as Red Personna Israeli packaged in the UK double edge razor blades that fit all standard double edge razors. They are a stainless steel blade with a "Platinum Chrome" coating for smooth shaving.

Size: 10 pack of blades OR 10 packs of 10 blades each (100 blades total).

New blades are now manufactured in Germany

Is that just referring to Israeli Red or all new Personna?

I know the company has changed hands several times. There was even worry about the future availability of Comfort coated US blades, not too long ago.

I haven’t tried the new German made blades, so no comment. The red pack is definitely Israeli. These were as well:

I believe those two are the same blade, or regardless can’t tell the difference. I would think that NOS Israeli blades are still around to purchase online.

This is referring to the Israeli Reds, to be clear. I believe that Israeli production was stopped. The USA med/labs are still in production to my knowledge. Lol, it is a bit confusing to sort out.

I thank you all for the information. I decided to get all 4 and they them out lol. I already have the personna comfort coated blades which I adore. I would like to try out all of the others to really give personna an overall thought and review.
