My initial impressions of this razor were absolutely abysmal. In fact, it gave me THE worst shaves ever. I got irritation like I've never gotten before with a DE. It was so bad, I was close to seeing a dermatologist. For context, I can shave with a Feather DX and a pro super blade without issues.

However I decided to revisit it again today and made a very conscious effort to keep the shaving angle as shallow as possible, and this razor went from one of the worst ever, to one of the best. Totally different experience. I shaved ATG as I always do, and there were zero nicks/irritation. It was a perfect shave! It couldn't be smoother and efficacy was medium-high, but closer to high.

Andy did mention that this is the best razor he's made, I believe it now! It was even smoother (and more efficient) than the diamondback.

If anyone is having issues with this razor, I would suggest to go shallow. When you think you're using a shallow angle, go even more shallow. Especially when shaving ATG. It is much more forgiving WTG.

Andy saw my comment about preferring the satin finish over the polished one, and he reached out to me and send me the satin, so much appreciated for that as I love the satin version and I'm generally not a fan of polished finishes.

I think people will be very happy with this razor and it's well worth the wait. The price is more than fair. I can't recommend it enough now!

Happy to hear that!
Which blade did you use?

Gillette 7 o'clock super stainless (Russian made ones). It's what I use in everything.

Living on the edge
The glowing review might just be too little too late.

Problem with this Paradigm dude is he's not a straight shooter...totally non-transparent and very shifty.

There are plenty of other artisans who make good razors and sell them honestly.

Thank you for that blade suggestion. I wanted to use an other razor today but this Salient topic engaged me. Even I wanted to try a Nacet I gave your combo a try and wow. Shallow angle and it was a super smooth shave. Blade was sharp enough and it was a pleasure to use it. A really great shave. No nicks or Red spots - just a bbs.

Are these Super Stainless the same as the green Permasharp Stainless?
Otherwise I have to buy more blades

Glad to hear this!!! I honestly think it was the shallow angle that made the difference, not the blades.
The russian super stainless are NOT the same as the Indian permasharp stainless. Be careful if buying on amazon. I've seen seller advertise the permasharps as the super stainless. Not a huge deal because Amazon will refund you for inaccurate product misrepresentation, but better to avoid having to deal with that if you can.
Nice to see another satin one out there! I feel like there are very very few of these as the rest of the orders are going to ship with polished razors.

So after how many bad shaves did you finally get this good shave?

I had put it away since the last review. Just revisited it today.
Just like the blackbird, the angle made a world of difference.

So you've only shaved 2 times with your razor total and now you're convinced its the best shaver Paradigm has ever made?  Huh

Omega Evo,
Stirling Intrepid Man,
Paradigm Salient,
Feather (1),
Stirling Intrepid Man aftershave splash.

First impression was quite good!

No personal message, no excuse for the extra time it took, no Paradigm marks, but I got a good, first shave.[Image: 07e842471bed82fa9ce7492ee49ddc0f.jpg]
