Marcos

I could have written your review. I also have the plating issues on both sides of my cap; I had to clean out the handle threads to get a smooth fit - I kept thinking I was doing something wrong as I screwed it in, but then a Q-tip discovered lots of metal on the internal threads; I found the efficiency lacking after the first pass; I find the mirror polish has a ‘blurry’ quality to it as compared to Wolfman.

I had a 17-4, and found it possessed amazing smoothness. The DB, for me, is not as smooth and I’m not convinced that the DB raised efficiency. The DB handle is gorgeous and has nice balance and grip.

Just my honest .02.

Sorry I should have been clearer, did you try shaving ATG with the DB?
I also didn't find it too efficient after the first pass (I can say that about most of my razors). ATG was a totally different story. Took down my trouble spots like nothing.

I have not yet tried AGT with the DB. I’ve tried a Feather (x2) and a Kai and stopped at two passes. I’ll try AGT, and thanks for the suggestion. It could also be that I am quite spoiled by the WR 1.25’s steep angle of attack. Perhaps I haven’t dialed in the DB and shouldn’t expect an efficient steep angle.

Do let us know how it goes. I'm naturally a shallow angle shaver myself, don't know how much of a difference that makes. I'll try shaving with a steep angle tomorrow with the DB just for the heck of it.

I’m always 2 pass only no touch up. WTG and XTG. I expect razors to not be perfect on my first pass because it’s always on 3 day growth. A couple in my collection leave me at 95% after the first pass with the second pass just being more of a full face cleanup if you will so maybe I’m just used to that level of efficiency. I see tremendous potential in the DB and I will continue to work with it. Not sure what to do about the polishing concerns as I have zero skill in this department, and the way the postal system is now with everything being bogged down with COVID-19 shipping stresses, I have no real desire in the moment to want to ship it back for some additional polishing. I still really like it and it has attributes that I think many people will like. I just always try to offer objective info in reviews as I look for the same. We all make expensive decisions sometimes blind with this hobby so the more info to read the better.

Marcos and Hdad I was shaving at about a 30 degree angle handle to the face, not as steep as I use my WR2. I also shave daily which may make a difference in efficiency as I mentioned in one of my posts. I mentioned that the Diamondback had a narrower range in angle of shave as compared to the WR2 but it was easy to find with audio feedback. I am very surprised on the finish as I tried to post good picks of mine so the finish could be seen, mine is spotless. I would contact Andy about yours, he does offer 30 day return if you are not happy. I hope some of this helps you dial in the shave, I also agree that ATG is where it was the most efficient yet smooth. Let us know how it goes for you.

Try to find that sweet sweet feedback, just like you would with your blackbird. Let your ears guide your hand.

And ATG, this thing is awesome. Only the RS-10 was as irritation free And efficient ATG for me. Blackbird was close enough I could justify selling the RS though.
