PAA Star Jelly?

I bought a sample of PAA's Star Jelly, and found that it to works quite well for me.  The sample is scentless only, so I do not know how their scented versions smell.  I've heard that the menthol can make them smell a little "off", and the scent does not last very long.  If I put it on after applying a less nourishing/moisturizing aftershave, the menthol does seem to change the scent for me (maybe subconsciously?).  Could I please get your thoughts or experiences with the Star Jelly, especially the scented ones (I am a fan of many of PAA's scents)?  How long does the scent last and is it funky with the menthol?  Thanks.

I can't speak to this other than to say I've seen a few reviews and all were good. So, you definitely found a good product by my book.

As per menthol, I personally think it changes the scent of anything regardless of if it's soap, aftershave, lotion, etc.. If you want a scentless menthol you have to use an artificial coolant. My skin is not tolerant of those, unfortunately.

I use Stirling's Glacial Post Shave Balm. Lots of menthol, but I always go scentless. Additionally, I've used their menthol soaps and bar soaps. They definitely warp the scent, imo. I just don't mix menthol with anything scented unless it's a good mix (mint?).

I do have Terrorade by B&M, so I could add that to anything I wanted I guess. However, the Star Jelly seems to be the best of both worlds as far as a post-shave product goes. It's a mix of aftershave and balm. It's a jack of both trades, master of neither type thing. I would buy the aftershave alone, but I find it doesn't offer the post-shave feel that the Star Jelly or their Mysterium Serum (great balm in my opinion) has. Also, the I could get 2 Star Jelly products for the price of one aftershave.

Amen. I exclusively use Stirling's Balm, in lieu of their aftershave. No alcohol sting, but the menthol gives a similar enough feeling to make it right for me.

Terrorade is a synthetic additive? Hmm that could work. Then you're mixing your own, though. I wonder if Doug has any plans to offer a synth cooling offering or if it's something he could do as special order?

I actually got it when I was learning how to DE shave and it really helped on days I had a lot of irritation. I also did not expect a “gel” to feel that way. Out of this world fo sure.
