Those are not the same razors at all.  I have the PAA stainless steel evolution DOC and it is on par with the R41 easily.  Totally different razors.  I have the PAA aluminus DOC as well.  This razor is a completely different design.

Yeah, I have both as well and the DOC Evolution is extremely aggressive compared to the Ascension.

Wish I had one to compare the two, but I don't.  I'm curious to hear the comparison ass well.  Maybe GlazedBoker  can tell you as it seems he has every razor out there. Smile

Completely different shave!  I have the SB and OC Blackbird and the stainless steel Ascension and the latter is much more mild.  I love my Ascension but don’t put it in the same realm as the Blackbird.  Just my opinion!

Are you implying the Ascension is not as efficient as the Blackbird?  I have the SB Blackbird and it's, by far, my most efficient razor.  What would you compare the Ascension to in terms of efficiency?

BTW, I'm just asking out of curiosity and excitement...my Ascension will be here in a few days Smile

Is the Ascension's efficiency comparable to the Blackbird's. The Blackbird and Charcoal Goods Level 3 SB razors are my most efficient shavers and I am wondering if the Ascension is worth getting if it isn't as efficient as these two.
Thanks.

I have both the Blackbird SB and the Ascension. The Blackbird is hands down my best most efficient razor. The Ascension will give me a shave that feels as close on my face but it doesn't get the trouble spots as close on my neck like the Blackbird does. There is more touch up that I end up having to do with the Ascension the hair growth on my face also seems to come back in sooner than the Blackbird. All that being said I still find the Ascension a razor that I plan to hold on to. Im not a fan of the bomber handle that it came with and have swapped to for another

What handle have you found that works with the Blackbird? I hate the normal handle and find that that prevents me from using it

I use the old B-bird long handle on mine.

+1; I much prefer the 101mm handle, for some reason.
