Ok, and I have one! And i really like it. Doesn't shave any better than my merkur 34c though.

Workmanship is spectacular - a real thing of beauty to be admired.

However, there is not a linear correlation to shave quality and price. [or a non-linear  correlation to shave quality and product price].

I treasure  mine, but not due to some perceived shave quality aspect.

Don't crucify me - just be aware there is a solid chance you will ask yourself was it worth it.  Shave art/sculpture to be appreciated  no doubt - and it may be the holy grail razor you seek. It was worth the chance for me, but my lust for the wolf has been satiated.

I feel the same way. I’m not sure I’d call my WR1 overrated but it’s not the best shaver in my stable. I also would not ever dispose of it. It’s like a high end German sports car vs a Honda. It’s way nicer looking but does it get you from A to B any better? When you get into that category you start to blur the lines between a utilitarian tool and a work of art.  An example might be in woodworking- if you go into the shop of a hobby woodworker you might find some fancy brand name tools. If you go into the shop of a craftsman who makes his living in the trade you’ll find very few pretty tools. Quality for sure but all utilitarian.

Grooming Dept. I am just not buying soaps anymore in the $26-30 category when $13-18 soaps perform just as well.

Exactly this.  I've owned several (including a BBS-1) and NONE of them gave a shave quality worthy of the price tag.  Sure, the machining and workmanship is the absolute best in the business, but I get a better shave from a $50 razor (purely subjective I know).  I sold all of my Wolfman razors for exactly this reason.

Artisan soap makers. They have soaps that to me are not that much better than what's available from MdC, SV, or even Bulgari Man in black shaving soap(I got mine for $12 a puck) but some of them brilliantly keep changing formulations so that OCD among us keep buying them.
