NEWBIE TO VETERAN SHAVER: I've been thinking of trying one of these old fashioned [DE] razors but, don't you cut your fingers changing blades?

VETERAN: If I cut my fingers changing the blade I'd switch to an electric, avoid sharp objects, and have my wife cut my steak for me.

NEWBIE: What about your face?

VETERAN: I've cut my face but not while changing the blade.

For a lot of us, that newbie's words were our first baby steps into the wonderful world of traditional wet shaving so how can we fault him for asking? Happy2

Newbie's questions make prefect sense, given that he is unfamiliar with traditional wet shaving. I had the same questions before I got my first safety razor.

That is funny, though. Big Grin

I recall trying to figure out how to load a blade in a two piece razor. About 10 minutes later I discovered mantic59 shave vids and the existence of shaving forums.

About 15 minutes after that I was ready for a shave. Only took about 40 minutes to knock it out and never looked back Smile

I was blown away that there was an entire community around wet shaving.

I agree with kwsher, if hadn't been for YouTube videos(Thanks to mantic59, specifically) and shaving forums, I wouldn't have been able to get a decent comfortable shave. Nobody taught me to shave with canned goo and carts. So, when I finally made the jump to traditional wet shaving, these were invaluable resources to me. I can't even think about looking back. Thank you....well, ....everybody!
