I got hold of the Omega 10098 boar brush (pro) because the founder of Heritage brushes says that the knot is excellent and he used them in his replica brushes. It seems to be a decent knot. I did the cold water in the refrigerator soak for two days with towel stroping and then washed it with sunlight dish soap. Its a pretty funky smelling brush, probably the worst smelling brush I've ever had of any kind, boar, badger or horse. Usually a few latherings with fragrant soaps makes the smell diminish. I used it yesterday with GD Amare which to be fair probably wasn't fragrant enough. All I can say is that it was a challenging shave because of the stench of that brush. Truly awful. I don't know what is in the knot if its treated somehow but even after rinsing and applying a potent HTGAM Bay Rum aftershave I could still smell the brush stench on me. I could even taste it - I've noticed with certain substances like sun screen, I absorb whatever chemical into my sking and within minutes can actually taste it. I'm guessing its absorbed into my bloodstream then expired via my lungs. I avoid those types of sun screens as in addition to the unpleasant taste they actually nauseate me as well. I figure I will do a number of non-shave latherings with that brush to try to work it to the point that I can actually use if without gagging.
