You guys are a convincing bunch. Just bought a tub of Oleo Unscented Duck Fat base. Can’t wait to give it a try.

I was at www.topofthechain.ca earlier today and he has 2 Oleo duck tallow soaps in stock, Rougere and Tiramisu. If you've been wanting to try a duck tallow soap, these ones perform as well as any I've tried. I haven't tried the Tiramisu soap but I have tried Oleo's Rougere and Shilo as well as Grooming Dept Mallard and Bufflehead.

Recently purchased the Rougere shave soap and was pleasantly surprised...both in terms of performance and scent! The soap is rather soft and I found it to be very slick. I've only lathered it once and probably loaded way more than I needed. But it worked into a wonderful lather after adding quite a bit of water. As for the scent, I know Marko had mentioned not being able to detect any rose and this is a good example of how much people's senses can vary. The rose scent was the 1st note I picked out off the puck. It's a tame rose scent which I am finding to be intoxicating...I've kept the soap sitting at my home desk because i just keep wanting to get a sniff Smile

here's a shot of my 1st lather (not a good pic but that's generally what i get from my phone):

Oleo duck fat soap matches my previously best performing soap, Pannacrema Nuavia Blu and in the Shiloh scent has become one of my favorites soaps of all time.

Vinny Champion , how "citrusy" is Shiloh? I don't mind citrus-scented soaps but I wouldn't put them in my favorites-list.

I recently picked up a tub of Canard....the unscented duck fat base and it performed wonderfully. I agree with all that’s been said above and can add that I’ve shaved with the other two duck fat bases on the market and this is on par. Given the reasonable price, and the pleasant fact that it was available when I wanted to purchase a tub....all great things to me.

I’ll also add that while I’ve read about shipping delays or expectations of earlier shipping dates with this artisan, I had a hassle-free experience and would definitely return for more soap when the time comes.

Forgot to add....lathering this soap was intuitive. I found it easy to load my badger brush with enough soap for a three pass shave. It held water and maintained a yogurt-ty lather that I’ve come to enjoy.

Very citrusy to my nose - lemon drop citrus. Big Grin

Regarding Oleo’s shipping times, I recall recently seeing an announcement about them shipping only twice a week, but now that I tried to find it, I couldn’t. (I’m sure some customers wouldn’t like that idea, but I can see how it could help consolidate the operations of a small business.)

The other announcement, from today, is that all their scents are now available in the Canard (duck fat) formula.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

another vendor who uses duck tallow is mershaving (https://www.etsy.com/shop/MERshaving). i can attest to its goodness, he made a custom coconut-almond scented duck tallow soap for me that’s good enough to eat. lathers easily, great slickness. (i am not affiliated with the vendor, but a customer.)

When I placed my order last Saturday, I received an email stating items ship on Tues and Fri. But mine was put in the mail on Mon and I received it on Wed. They may have the policy in place in case things get too busy????
