DEcemBoar!

Cold Water Shave w/ Hot Water Lather
Pre - Aloe Vera Glycerin Soap Face Wash, Noxzema Cream as Pre Shave
Razor - Gillette 40’s Style Super Speed (1947/NDC/No Notch)
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (4th & Final Use)
Brush - Omega Pro 49 Boar
Lather - Cyril R. Salter (Indian Sandalwood), Face Lathered
Post - Generic Reformed Alum Block, T.N. Dickinson’s, Nivea Deep A/S, Nivea Sensitive Balm

Day three of using a Gillette TTO and I gotta say "I'm Lovin' It!" The 1947 SS is both smooth and efficient enough, kind of a sweet spot for a newish shaver. I'm starting to get the hang of face lathering. It's been a challenge to ensure I load enough, but not too much product...and then get enough hydration into the lather so that it doesn't dry out before the end of the pass and so as to not clog up the razor. Per my SOP, four shaves on a DE blade and out it goes. The Cyril R. Salter Indian Sandalwood cream performed great and smells wonderful! Bottom line, I'd take this shave exactly like this any day of the week!

Admin Question: The Option/2 key combo for the Mac types the "TM" trademark symbol. I wanted to use it after the "I'm Lovin' It!". I could type it and it showed up in the posting area, but when I preview the post it disappears. Any thoughts?
Great shave Bryan ! You may want to post the question in a section like Help & Feedback to get eyes on it or tag a few mods.

With apologies, post edited. Did not intend to try and dictate any one else's shaving schedule. It was intended to be a tongue in cheek post, but really appears to have not been taken that way. I guess I should have used emoji's!  Big Grin

Perhaps my press release isn't being taken with the tongue in cheek that it was intended to...just trying to have some fun here!

Menthol Monday!
DEcemBoar!

Cold Water Shave w/ Hot Water Lather
Pre - Aloe Vera Glycerin Soap Face Wash, Noxzema Cream as Pre Shave
Razor - Gillette Flare Tip Super Speed (1962/H1)
Blade: Gillette Nacet (1st Use)
Brush - Omega 10290 Boar
Lather - Proraso Green, Face Lathered
Post - Generic Reformed Alum Block, T.N. Dickinson’s, Jeris Osage Rub, Nivea Sensitive Cooling Balm

A successful two-pass shave with what I'd term a mild DE razor. While this would likely be a fine beginner's razor, now that I'm used to using a more efficient razor I find myself applying more pressure than I should to get a close shave. More pressure will inevitably lead to irritation of some sort.

A very well hydrated was created by and face lathered with the Omega 10290. This brush needs a lot more use before being considered broken in. A rather small knot, but still had more than enough lather if I had needed for a third pass. The Proraso Green was one of my first soaps purchased and while it is not sexy...it gets the job done. Unfortunately it leaves my skin feeling dried out. Nothing my post shave routine couldn't handle.

Is it weird that I want to take a bath in the Dickinson's witch hazel...do I have a problem?

Tomorrow's razor, the 1947 Super Speed.

I'm catching up on a lot of forum reading. That said, I still have a Fat Boy and a Slim, and I'm happy to dig one out for at least some days of the TTO Spectacular.

Tabac Tuesday!

Cold Water Shave w/ Hot Water Lather
Pre - Aloe Vera Glycerin Soap Face Wash, Noxzema Cream as Pre Shave
Razor - Gillette 40’s Style Super Speed (1947/NDC/No Notch)
Blade: Gillette Nacet (2nd Use)
Brush - Jayaruh #403
Lather - Tabac, Face Lathered
Post - Generic Reformed Alum Block, T.N. Dickinson’s, Clubman Pinaud A/S, Nivea Sensitive Skin & Stubble Balm

This 1947 Super Speed provided such a better shave than yesterday's 1962 version. Even though the razor is much more efficient, it was also smoother. Not sure if the yesterday's shave knocked some of the harshness off the blade, but I'm still convinced this is a smoother shaver. Two passes for the win!

Many feel the 40's style is the best of the Made in the USA Super Speeds. The 1947 model is the first year of the Super Speed and is noted for not having a notch on the center bar. The notch was first included in 1948 to assist in the ease of loading a new blade without having to touch it. My particular razor has a 1946 Ranger Tech base plate, as there is no crimping above the safety bar. Research on the intertubes says that some of these razors even have complete Ranger Tech heads, as Gillette was known from using up parts from earlier models. I'm unsure if my razor has the complete head or just the base plate. Either way, it was a fortunate find in the wild at antique store.

I'm a big fan of participating in Tabac Tuesday! I really enjoy lathering with this soap and I'm one of those that likes the scent. The brush was gifted to my from Jim Roe/Jayaruh and I really enjoy using it with Tabac, since Jim religiously participates in Tabac Tuesday.

Tomorrow's razor, the German made Parat.
