NOTHING gives me more pleasure than to finally introduce you to something I have been working on for almost 2 solid years, The Crown King Travel Scuttle! (This is not an exaggeration.)

There were soooooo many road bumps when trying to develop this, I kid you not. I went through 3 different manufacturers who all claimed they could do the job when in reality, none could...except the last one, and that only came with A LOT of trial and error on my dime. I believe this is the reason no one, until now, has released a shatterproof scuttle. That's right folks, this is truly a historical moment, this is The Worlds first, True Travel Friendly Scuttle!

This really was a labor of love my friends and I doubt anyone else would have put up with all the setbacks we experienced, lol. Fact is, I love using a scuttle. I find I get the best shaves of my life when using a hot lather, I also find when I'm on the road traveling, I get really crappy shaves...which is often embarrassing because I am typically on route to a shave meet up! sigh...

http://phoenixshaving.com

So to be honest, this was more for me than you...but its a win, win all around now that this awesome little piece of Modern Shave Tech is done!

I truly believe this baby will up your travel shave game if not up your home shave game too, if you decide to use it daily...which you just might!

It's really perfect for any household where children are on the prowl or for shower shavers! It is also great for special needs and elderly shavers being lighter than ceramic and shatterproof. I have also wowed and amazed many a gent at the gym while shaving with this bad boy! The uses and possibilities are endless and need not be limited just for travel.

So tell me more Doug...

Oh I Shall!

You see, I really wanted to create a durable but lightweight scuttle that could perform as well as my ceramic scuttle, if not better. Having tried traveling with my ceramic scuttle in the past, I found that never ended well, or it ended up taking up way to much room in my carry on...and became a major source of anxiety I just didn't need. (1st world problems)

So it was crystal clear what needed to be done.

If I was going to do this, it had to be done correctly, It had to be microwave safe as well as dishwasher safe for convenience & sanitary reasons. I mean, It’s no secret that hotel, motel, youth hostels and gym bathrooms are bacteria & germ ridden...ugh.

With this in mind, even the stopper I chose is constructed of unbreakable, non corrosive, silicone...which, unlike natural cork, is non porous and easy to clean, nothing will grow in or on this. And like the scuttle it is also solvent resistant. Making it super easy to clean and sanitize if needed. Also, unlike with a ceramic scuttle, this stopper will not get accidentally pushed into the scuttle...I have made that impossible!

Polypropylene Doug?

That's right, I said Polypropylene, The Steel of Plastic! This stuff truly is a Space Age Polymer. I really did my best trying to come up with new and interesting ways to destroy this thing but at the end of the day I could not. I went way beyond what anyone would experience on the road, shy of a horrible rocket crash...and it survived every time!

[I should also mention it's is Recyclable #5 Plastic...if ever you want to recycle it...though I'm unsure why you would, but hey, stranger things have happened.]

Also, just like ceramic, polypropylene is known for its miraculous ability to hold and maintain heat...and for that reason, it is the #1 fiber used today in insulated underwear...which you just might be wearing right now...creepy, no? but I digress...

The travel scuttle also had to out perform a traditional scuttle when it came to the speed it took to whip up copious amounts of lather! This meant I needed to create some greater resistance in the bowl. So, as I have done with my ceramic scuttle, I added "verts":...but with a new twist!

Traditionally these are vertical "digs" in a ceramic scuttle done by the potter. Something I really exploited when it came to my ceramic design but rather than "digs" this time around I have done something a little different and reversed them, giving a raised relief or embossed effect.

These raised bars, by design, create even more resistance which greatly improves lather production, much more so than bumps or digs ever could or will. Time is of the essence when on the road, no?

I have also chosen to round these embossed verts so as not to damage certain delicate animal hair brushes. This is important to the high rollers who travel with these fine brushes, I myself prefer using a synthetic brush on the road, it just travels better and you need not have to baby it...but that's a whole other story. Point is, this travel scuttle was designed by a wet shaver for wet shavers!

But Why Microwave Safe Doug?

Good question. This again is for the sake of time and convenience. I have noticed that most hotels, motels and even hostels with their shared kitchen areas have microwaves. 1 minute in the microwave and you are ready to shave! Heck, if there's no Mic around, you can always use the coffee maker in the room to boil water!

Use Boiling Water? I thought that was a no, no Doug?

Well, historically this is. If you have ever used boiling water in a ceramic scuttle you will see very fast that it can fry the foam and really kill any hope of getting a good lather...But with the Crown King Travel Scuttle, it's a little different in that regard.

The polypropylene works like a buffer and shields the lather from the effects of the boiling water. It just behaves differently than traditional ceramic and tends to rewrite this old rule.

I personally don't use boiling water but it's nice to know that if I need to, I can. 1 minute in the mic or the tap at its hottest works fine most of the time!

Other Included Components

Each part of this kit I sourced from different manufacturers in an effort to really deliver the best travel experience one could have with a scuttle. As you know, I never slack on research and development and I believe the kit I put together really demonstrates this.

The Neoprene Scuttle Glove

This was inspired by the traditional Tea Cozy, British readers know immediately what I mean...for us gringos, think beer koozy! Smile

The scuttle glove is completely optional and used to protect your hand as well as retaining heat. NOTE: It also fits my ceramic scuttle too if you happen to own one already...Bonus!

Being that the scuttle is made from polypropylene it already does a heck of a job maintaining heat but if you want to keep the heat up and in longer, this is an excellent option.

Microfiber Travel Pouch

You will also find a Microfiber Travel Pouch which doubles as a razor polishing or drying cloth. I mean lets face it, when traveling we don’t always have the time or luxury to air dry our gear, microfiber is your second best option!

What is Microfiber...for real?

You see this stuff all the time but do you really know why it is the rockstar of cloth?

Microfiber is a polyester and nylon (polyamide) fiber that is used to make fabric. The fiber is split many times smaller than a human hair making it a superior tool for cleaning and germ removal because it is able to penetrate cracks and crevasses that terrycloth, paper towels or even toilet paper are not able to reach.

The increased surface area of the fibers and their star shape also allow them to absorb up to 7 to 8 times their weight in liquid. This dual action pouch really ties the room together for me and will make running from hotel to uber that much faster!

Atmotic Travel Soap

Lastly, you will also find an exclusive travel size, Crown King Artisan Shave Soap, Atmotic. Once this is used up, save the jar and reload it w/your favorite soap to take on your next trip! I should repeat, the first 50 Travel Scuttle sold will also include an exclusive Travel Size Atmotic Aftershave/Cologne!

http://phoenixshaving.com

Exclusive?

What I mean by Exclusive is, Atmotic is only available with our travel scuttle, you will not find a full size soap or full size splash at this time, as the name suggests, Atmotic is just for travel!

What is Atmotic?

This stuff is really magical and simply evokes the spirit of travel for me; Aged Oak, Dogwood, Patchouli and Ginger! Imagine a floating barbershop set up in the basket of an ancient airship or dirigible and you will understand this scent immediately! It really transports you I can assure you & preps you mentally for the day ahead!

That's about it folks! I know you will get years and years of enjoyment and use out of our Crown King Travel Scuttle...Shave On!

That's why I bought two, I think it has become my go to brush soaking vessel/way to lather samples, it does whip up a great lather quickly
