2nd in hopefully many more Home Made threads. Check out the first one in Soaps and Creams. I'm being selfish and trying to streamline my social media to DFS. Looks like a good place to spend the majority of my time. I mean COME ON; Shaving, Buy Sale Trade, Photography, Food, Ext, AND Good people that will not kick me in the teeth for being new to the Shave.

So to the post:
I went to get the mail one day and someone ran over my mailbox at 2am in the morning. No note, no sorry, just tire tracks "Weak". After looking at buying a mailbox I decided to build my own. This was inspired by a couple I had seen in the neighborhood. Spent 2 hours going through Home Depot wood for enough straight pieces of cedar. To quote my Grandfather "airplane propellers"

Please add your "Home Made" things too.

pretty cool. I really need to relocate my mailbox. currently it's mounted on the siding that's near my front door. my mailman will literally try to stuff ANYTHING inside of it. I'm going to put a post in near the bottom of my front steps so I can install a larger mailbox and save my siding from being ripped off of the house by our mailman.

That's really nice. I've been looking to replace my plastic my mailbox but lack the creativity to come up with something like this.

If you're interested I can do some digging and find the company that I got the design from. The one they sale was like $250.00 and much smaller. I like my big mailbox, I get a lot of packages and it has been nice to have.

Most of my handmade, non-soap/shaving stuff is artistic in nature rather than practical. I have learned to draw, paint, etc. My wife and I also team up on home projects whenever possible. We've installed laminate flooring, stair treads, linoleum, doors, etc. I think next spring we're rebuilding the back deck.

My wife is the crazy crafter lady. She can do the following: Knit, crochet, lampwork glass, jewelry (wire, not forged - so far), and she's a part time professional potter.

Love to see the Art, I'll be posting some as well.

It hasn't been updated in a while, but my DeviantArt profile is still up.

That is great, Eric. I'm no artist, and certainly no critic, but I really like the colors in it.

We do all kinds of stuff on our own.  When he used to have time, Brian would make furniture -- he made an Mission-style ottoman (I sewed the cushion top), cherry hall table, a maple crib.  He has a long list of projects that will probably never get done

Hall table (cherry):

My favorite project is our firebrick grill.  It also doubles as a fire pit.  Just some concrete block in the middle and dry stacked fire bricks.  Brian poured the concrete pad that it's on.   I should note that I picked up the bricks and hauled them all to the backyard BY MYSELF with only a crummy wheelbarrow.   Brian's modified the top bricks a little for better airflow, but he can build a multilevel fire with safe zones and everything.
