What about those of us that bought our razors? Still have mine and if not even been interested in opening it after reading the issues.

If you have a vise and are handy with a file, it makes a fine science experiment!

I do and I am but as cheap as it is, I wasn't buying a project. I'd like them to supply the intended finished product.

It is stunning that in this day and age, a major manufacturer could make this sort of mistake. Could it be a plating issue?

It's called LACK of Quality Control and rush to market to see money come in.... They fix as they go just like Yaqi does until they finally get it right and name their razor "the final cut" Rolleyes

I have a SoloEdge on the way I look forward to trying. And if someone wants a cheap half DE the Yaqi head was fairly good. I think I spent $5-6 for it on sale. Only one shave with it but it was better then a lot of razors I’ve tried and well worth the price. It’s more on the medium-aggressive side and I think the gap was around 1.05.

The Yaqi 1/2 DE head is quite dangerous IME- It is an unsupported untorqued blade jutting straight out with alignment issues. However, it is a fantastic holder of injector blades. The unsupportedness of the blade is less of an issue with thicker injector blades. The remaining issue is that it is not engineered for these blades, so alignment is ad hoc. You can use a blade box to gently align it though.

It is worth a try if you have the gear or have a fair amount of injector blades and would like to try a heavier handle.

I don’t see that issue with mine? It’s a pain to load a blade and hold it in place as I tighten the top down but I have the same issue with all the small headed AC type razors.

Once tight I don’t see how the blade can move since it has 2 tabs that hole the blade in position and the top part clamps tight against the blade. I’m not saying it’s a great razor but I don’t see any of these issues unless I’m missing something or they changed the design. They may even have different half DE heads. I bought this as a head only for like $6 directly from Yaqi.

I’d love to try an injector blade in a razor like this but I don’t see how I can make it fit without serious modification since the 2 tabs that hold the blade are in the way of an injector blade fitting.

I understand they don't want bad publicity, but those who purchased the razor deserve to know. Are they sending out a recall? Like Dave in KY said: "What about those of us that bought our razors? Still have mine and if not even been interested in opening it after reading the issues." I'm glad they are now aware, maybe because of the youtube videos, and hope they make it right. I purchased the $17.95 SSH-02 open comb and I am happy with it so I know they can make a solid sub-$20 razor. Though I don't know if an SE faces more/different challenges in manufacturing.

When I mean movement, I mean vertical movement of the blade flexing up and down. It juts quite far out or the Excalibur (when using folded blades). Here is a video of a guy using an injector blade in the Katana:

I can see how using very thin, half double edge blades in a clamping SE design would let the blade edge flex around a lot. That is why I like SE razors that use the thick Feather or GEM blades. They shave a lot more like a SR than a DE. The design of the Sleek avoids this by having very little blade exposure and clamping close to the edge. I didn't notice any flex or chatter at all. As for the problems, Pearl should institute a "no questions asked" replacement program for anybody who shows them a photo of their razor and a sales receipt.

BTW, the guy in the video got a terrible shave. He needs to do a lot more skin stretching and face puffing.

Has anybody else tried one of these things yet?

I am interested to see if it is a QC issue or a design issue.
