I definitely prefer hollow handles, would be nice if you can add it in this pass-around.
If this hollow handle is longer, would be awesome, keep balance well, too.
Can you let us know what the total weight of Envoy with the hollow handle is?

I think the balance is perfect as it is. Personally, I’m not picky with the length of the handles. I just adapt to them and make them work without really thinking about it. The only thing I want in a handle is absolute grip and this one has it to spare.

So for the last 6 months or so I’ve been using straight razors almost exclusively. I have a stable of exceptionally nice DE razors that are mainly collecting dust. I’m not inundated in the DE world like I once was.

Comparisons won’t be made as it’s been too long to make accurate statements imo. That being said my 2 fave DE razors I own are my titanium wr2’s. Id use a 1.05 for daily use and 1.15 mixed in from time to time.

On to the Rex:

First thing I notice out of the box is the nice machined finish, followed by the extreme grip provided by the handle. I normally prefer a 90mm handle but this seems to be sufficient as it’s got some girth to it (all riiiight. Giggity)

Only fault I can find is that the cap cap does have some play along the axis of the tabs.

Blade loading is straight forward. The shave is quite nice. I’ve never used the ambassador but if it’s like this I would consider picking one up for a traveler.

Lastly this is a price point that is ripe for the picking in the market at large. There are many premium priced offerings, and at the end of spectrum there are cheap offerings that are simply that - cheap. To offer a machined SS razor of this level of performance for $125 is a win for everyone.

I will be boxing this up after I use it again tomorrow and will send it to it’s next recipient. Thanks RE for the passaround.

Well here is my two cents about the Envoy,

It is very well made, no issues to report. I really love the branding and serial number, all manufacturers should do this in my opinion. When I loaded a blade and looked at the side profile I thought I was in for some trouble. The bottom plate does not extend out very far on the blade so I knew there would be some blade chatter. The gap also looked larger than what I normally use and the blade exposure was positive. I was cautious during the shave and could hear lots of feedback and I knew where the blade angle was at all times. After the shave was over I thought for sure I would have some weepers on my neck and some irritation. This razor feels similar to the Blackbird when it shaves (for me anyway). But after the shave was over I not only had no weepers but also no irritation. That was the confusing part. It felt more aggressive than apparently it was (to me it feels like the Ambassador on setting 4). I get a really close shave without any issues using it daily which makes me a happy camper. There is no other razor in my collection quite like it. I really do enjoy this razor a lot. I'm not used to a razor being so clear in the blade feel and delivering a shave with no irritation. This is really a unique razor that I feel everyone should experience. Also, I have the Ambassador and I think I like the Envoy better. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense since they have the same design profile but what can I say, it is what it is.

Does the head cover the blade tabs? I sold my Ambassador because of that. I would be interested in this one if it doesn’t cover the tabs.
