Hi everyone,

I am considering another mystic waters soap to buy. As of late it seems like there has been a pretty significant shift in what is considered "top tier" bases i.e. Declaration Grooming, Barrister and Mann, Wholly Kaw Donkey Milk, Grooming Department, and Tallow and Steel. So my question was performance wise how does Mystic waters compare to the aforementioned bases ( slickness, postshave). Any help and or feedback would be greatly appreciated! Happy Friday!!

To be honest, I love many of the new soap bases but still get the slickest shaves from MW. Just had a run with v1 bay rum and my shaves we're all awesome. Probably the best residual slickness I can remember.

Apart from ease of lathering, I would say Mystic Water is better or at least equal in performance to the soaps you mentioned.

But I must agree that I am enjoying the ease of lathering aspect of GD, WKDM, reserve quite a bit lately.

I'm a big fan of Mystic Water soaps. The slickness and post shave are just as good or better than most when you get it dialed in.

I’ll offer a dissenting opinion - I think MW is only average. I don’t have have hard water & I’ve used all types of brushes to lather it. It’s just never been impressive to me.

On the other hand - GD, B&M, WK, DG etc have all been consistently amazing. Dense, creamy, slick lather & amazing post shave. Effortless lather from these top performers.

With the market so saturated with premium/elite soap makers - why would I even risk buying one of the most finicky?

Its also less than half the price of some of those.

Seems we hobbyists are always chasing the new. Mystic Waters need not hang its head to anyone. Her soap base is solid. Slickness is awesome. Scents are glorious. ( and I have hard water). I'd be happy if MW was the only soap in my house.

It will easily snick in between the makers you listed.

It has been my favourite soap, for the past seven years. You really should try it. Shy

Ditto. I tried a few samples and it refused to lather worth a tinker's damn and what little it did was weak & wispy. Sad

Secretary Ramsey put his foot into it yesterday . . . in the course of his remarks he said that California “needs water and better society.”  “So does h-ll,” yelled someone in the crowd.
