Now I understand the hype that Badger generates,
I cannot compare to other badgers, this is my firs ever shave with a badger, I can compare to my synthetic and boar (both very high end knots);

It was all about soft, so soft that it competes with the pleasure of passing the razor on the face, I am now thinking that passing the brush on the face is even better than the razor.
Bowl lathering was easy, same time as with synthetic or boar. Moderate backbone but enough to lather,
Brush retained soap for 4 passes! I did not need to pick up some more foam from the bowl, I was really amazed by that.
All in all - a very delightful experience of softness, don’t know if this knot is at Simpson or Thater level, I really cannot see how this can go even better, will find out one day as I get a used Thater and can compare.

Awesome review Brains . It gives me hope, as I have a TGN silvertip en route.

I've used Yaqi and Maggards (standard silvertip and 2Band)... All had issues that turned me away from them. Hopefully, TGN is a winner for me, too.

Thanks again for sharing your results.

Great review, Brains and I enjoyed your enthusiasm! And I agree with you, some brushes just make me want to lather 5, 6, 100 times!! Maybe try loading the brush for 30 - 45 seconds and then face lather. Now that can be a very pampering and addicting routine, followed by a shave with your favorite razor.

For me where badger gets really fun is trying the different grades of hair. Even batch variations within Simpson Manchurian are telling enough to distinguish from time to time when this batch was available. Badger hair can be an absolute treasure hunt but for me it’s been a lot of fun over the last 15 years.

Gratz on the new brush brother, nice looking knot you have there looks nice and lush.

Glad you enjoyed the experience of badger.  Its a nice way to spoil yourself a little bit.  I hope it brings you many wonderful shaves.

I think you are in to a very nice surprise, seems all recent silver tip premium TGN knots are from the same batch
