Last night we were listening to the latest from Sturgill Simpson, Lumineers and The Wild Feathers...

Simpson's cover of Nirvana's In Bloom is particularly tasty IMHO.

Can't go wrong with the Lumineers.

kwsher , I had you pegged for a Nirvana fan  Here is a cover of the Johnny Cash classic I Walk The Line by a band called Live - when I first heard it it reminded me of Nirvana.  I think JC would approve.

Cincinnatus those fashions were very cool in the 70s!  Here is a video of Steve Smith, the drummer for Journey, performing an entertaining routine called Mr. Hi Hat.  I was at a drum clinic a few years back where he performed this - an incredible percussionist.

Can't go wrong with the Lumineers.  

Their latest Cleopatra just hit and on first listen- solid if you're a fan!

Marko I am all over the map musically but during my "formative" years was into punk or whatever you want to label the genre by decade. One of my greatest concerts was the Ramones- a friend of mine's brother was their sound guy and we got to hang backstage during the show and then on their tour bus after. Joey drank Yoohoo the entire time. So very cool and of course a fantastic show.

Backstage with the Ramones would have been very cool.  I was in to the punk / new wave back in the mid to late 70s.  Some of my memorable concerts include Pointed Sticks, DOA, and Devo.  I even have a Sex Pistols album somewhere.  I went off to university in 1978 and the music scene at the time was incredible. Several of the edgy bands went on to become more or less mainstream like The Police, Dire Straights, Cheap Trick, Boomtown Rats, The Clash, Elvis Costello, The Cars, The Tubes The Fabulous Poodles, uh, wait, the Poodles never made it to mainstream - they opened on a Tom Petty tour got big enough to record a few albums and then vanished - they had a fight with their manager- apparently had signed a bad contract and they lost the right to perform not only under the band's name but under their own personal names as well.

I wore out Never Mind the Bollocks [vinyl of course!]. Your call outs look like a playlist in our house although my wife is not quite as into the same but more tolerates my rogue nature. And Converse shoes.

Where are the Pixies?

Sorry, Marko, but for me Live totally destroys the beauty and simplicity of Johnny Cash's I Walk the Line.  The loud guitars and drums are not needed.  Ironically, at the end of the song, the singer even mentions the simplicity of Johnny's song.

Perhaps a reminder of the original is in order.

Freddy I hear you and I respect your view on that - I like them both.  For some reason I seem to be able to partition my brain and I consider them to be independent artistic expressions.  I assume you've heard JC's cover of Nine Inch Nails' Hurt - so powerful.
