Now this kind of Christmas music I like.

Marc-Antoine Charpentier: O Oriens, H.41
William Christie/Les Arts Florissants

Felix Mendelssohn: Christmas Song "Arise, betake yourself"
Christiane Karg, soprano; Gerold Huber, piano

Christmas Carol: Ríu Ríu Chíu
Valentin Radu/Ama Deus Ensemble; Lorie Gratis, mezzo-soprano

Franz Schubert: Rosamunde Overture, D.644 ("The Magic Harp")
Herbert Blomstedt/San Francisco Symphony

Christmas Carol (arr. Ralph Vaughan Williams): What Child is This?
Lutz Rath, cello; Judith Lynn Stillman, piano

Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (arr. Andrew York): The Nutcracker, Op.71: Chinese Dance
Los Angeles Guitar Quartet

Franz Grüber (arr. Donald Hunt): Silent Night
Donald Hunt/Worcester Cathedral Choir; Raymond Johnston, organ

Julius Fucík: Tales of the Danube Waltz, Op.233
Neeme Järvi/Royal Scottish National Orchestra

And just as a side note: I got curious this morning about the classical radio station DJs and looked on the station's site, where I found photos of the on-air staff. And they look nothing like how I had imagined them. The fellow who usually hosts the morning show while I'm shaving, whom I had thought probably was tall, dark, and athletic, turned out to be fat, gray, and sort of slovenly. A metaphor for life, I guess...

As I had a Pink Floyd song stuck in my head (Not Now John), I played that... Along with Have a Cigar and The Fletcher Memorial Home.

Some fun music to go with a great shave.

Freddy is a LEGEND….  those LADS changed the direction of music.  Queen was voted “greatest live performance in the history of rock” for those 21 minutes!

Harvey Goldsmith and Bill Graham ARE music promoter LEGENDS for putting that together as fast as they did.  A global event like that in the mid 80’s was probably the most aggressive promotion ever seen, let alone music!

And the Acts that played? Wowowowow, some of them jumping helicopters to a Concorde and playing Wembley AND JFK Stadiums….brilliance

I’m pretty passionate about music.  I can’t cite another global music event that took place “on the same day” as Live Aid.  It was colossal….
