Murphy and McNeil soaps

Ourobouros seemed to me like an exact copy of Reef Point Dragon’s Blood which is no longer made since Reef Point went out of business.
I did like Trinity very much though.

Dang! I'm going to have to get that one then. I love RPS Dragon's Blood and to have it in a base as good as Murphy and McNeil would be great. As much as I like RPS and several of their scents, they haven't kept up with developments in the shaving soap world. Sad, because Dragon's Blood, Admiralty and Test Depth, which are the only RPS I have all smell wonderful to me.

Had a chance to shave with Ourobouros again this morning and I really think this smells a lot like L'Instant de Guerlain. It does have a citrus, cocoa and cinnamon vibe just like it. Even if it isn't meant to be a clone of LIDG, it is really close. Love it.

Exactly my same thoughts! Ouroboros smells nearly identical to Reef Point Dragons Blood which is kind of a good thing as it is one of the best Dragons Blood on the market (MW Egyptian Dragon being my favorite). Another very close comparison is Kell's with Wild West Pinkerton- clean fresh scent but the 2 are nearly identical to my nose.

Performance of M&M is quite good and have tried 3 different formulas from them so far and look forward to see whats next from this relatively new artisan.

Anyone have experience with the St. James scent?
Apparently the 1st batch is sold out (whether it shipped or not I don’t know) and they are doing a preorder for the 2nd batch now.

Supposed to smell like an oatmeal stout.

Personally I’m probably going to stay away from m&m unless I hear their new scents are stronger - they’re too weak for my preference.

I read the scent notes and while there is stout listed as an ingredient the notes tree reads a bit more complex than just a scent of stout. Or I hope so at least.

I got 3 samples, ouroboros, Kells and Mandate of Heaven and a tub of trinity. To my nose, all were weaker in scent strength compared the the usual artisans they would be compared to, especially trinity. That’s not a bad thing per se, as many ppl prefer that; just not me.

I read the same but I think some of these guys get to deep in the description. I'd run with this....

Scent Strength: Medium to Strong

Top: Oatmeal, Orange, 

Heart: Almond, Butterscotch

Base: Vanilla

I like a good smelling tub of soap but have now distanced myself from really caring being that I always buy the frag. Soap scent is so fleeting. At some point I keep telling myself I'll settle into the best unscented soap base and free myself of being soap driven and start to be frag driven.

Anyway, don't run from a great base because of light scent. Grab the matching frag.
