One facet of the Coronavirus lockdown for my wife and me is seeing again our DVDs of all the old Agatha Christie Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot mystery shows. This has stimulated some discussion about who the best actors in each role were, among the many who played them. We agreed quickly that David Suchet was the best Poirot, and after some argument we concluded that Joan Hickson, although dour, was the best Miss Marple, followed pretty closely by both Geraldine McEwan and Juliet McKenzie. We could argue about the Star Wars vs. Star Trek series too except that she refuses to watch either one...

John, I'd have to agree about Joan Hickson in the Miss Marple series but I loved Margaret Rutherford in just about anything she did and enjoyed her in the role. However, I still think Hickson nailed it for me.
