Just a quick query about the Muhle R95 Birch bark handle razor.
Does the Birch bark handle material last OK, or likely to wear out in a few years time?
I like the look of them, but any likelihood of the handle crapping out will probably mean I get an R94 instead.
Thanks.

I have used my R95 about 20-25 times since I have owned it (purchased it new) and I have not noticed any wear.  I just rinse and dry after each use as I would any of my other razors so no special treatment in my case.

I have one incoming so cannot speak to longevity BUT I can infer that wear will likely not be an issue in longevity. I have fishing rods whose handles are made of stacked cork rings (R95:is stacked birchbark rings) that have been subjected to many thousands of hours, hot blazing sun, extreme low temps, and HEAVY use on heavy fish and nary had to repair a handle. These handles get a diluted Simple Green wash once a year and no other treatment. They have patina but no noticeable wear.
