There are two approaches each with its advantages.
The easy way is simply to use a scissors to snip off enough from each side such that the blade now sits between the posts. You can then tweak alignment before fully tightening.
The trickier but more proper way is to use a 1/8" circle punch to recreate the side slots that Gibbs put there. This is probably more secure than the first method but requires a fairly precise punch in order for the blade to align properly.
