So, if you haven't heard of this razor, it's a Chinese clone of the Merkur Futur Adjustable razor. The Merkur is, at least on Italian Barber, $109CAD, while the Ming Shi is only $13.62CAD, so when I saw it pop up on sale on IT and decided to get it and see what it was like, since it was cheap... and also Lucky Tiger Aftershave (finally!)restocked on there and being that's my fave AF and my current bottle is low I needed to make an order anyway Tongue

Going into this, I admit now I have used the Merkur Futur, so I can't compare the two against each other.

That said, for a cheap clone, the Ming Shi is pretty good Smile It has a solid weight(the Future weighs more according to IT) and good finish, no faults that I can see. The adjustment works smoothly, and the blade stays nice and tight in the razor, and taking the top cap off to put in a blade is tight and it's in there good, nothing loose to moving at all.

All in all, not a bad razor for the money I think, long term we'll see if it holds up, and it comes with a pack of Ming Shi blade, but I haven't tried them yet lol One new thing per shave Wink If you were eyeing the Merkur but didn't like the price, I think the Ming Shi is a decent stand in, but, again, I haven't used the Merkur myself, so keep that in mind Smile

Futur razors can be bought on Amazon Prime for well under $60 with two day shipping however, for $10 how can you go wrong.

Cheap Charlies can still opt to buy from QShave in Shenzen, $7.31 delivered with tracking, seven days to my door. But probably easier to deal with Joe should a problem arise. Mine is perfect.

I have and had both and what I can say with all honesty is if someone passed me a Ming, said it was a Merkur I couldn't pick out the difference. Can't tell which was heavier, can't tell, which has the better finish, can't tell by the adjustment. I also can't tell how long it will last, but in my 7 years of shaving, I have never had a razor go south on me. I did have to pop the blade out of the ming and put it back in (blade alignment was slightly off) but once the blade and cap were re-seated, all was good.

I was also one of those who fell in temptation for this Futur clone. Blush

I bought mine at the "Qshave" webshop in Aliexpress. Exactly the same razor than the Ming Shi 2000s, but sold under the "Qshave" brand and with a slightly better presentation box.

Couldn't be more happy with it. It shaves beautifully, better than some of my other razors that cost +10x more. I had no trouble at all when using it, in fact I was amazed how easy it delivers a nice BBS shave with no effort.
Incredible price/quality ratio. Never thought that a €6 clone razor from China would be that good.

I liked so much that I ordered 2 more units from the same vendor - they make excellent gifts for friends. Cool

Hi Emanuel,

I was about to order one of these from AliExpress but one must give a mobile phone number to order and that was a big turn-off to me.  I get enough junk calls as it is so I'm certainly not going to give my number to a company I have never dealt with when all I want is an inexpensive razor.  Too bad. Sad

Take care,

Freddy

I just ordered one from Italian Barber. For the price, even if I don't like it, it is definitely worth a try. Smile
