It may well be an end of batch sale, but reducing the price by 60% is rather drastic, I know when Scott at Declaration Grooming introduced the new Milksteak base, he cut the price of all of the Bison tallow and Icarus soaps in inventory, but I don't remember him cutting the price so drastically. Scott wanted to convert all of his scents over to the new Milksteak formula and he did not want the confusion of having two soaps with the same scent.

Perhaps Mick's is doing something similar, but I would have thought he would have hinted at the new base. For whatever reason, Mick's has not garnered much attention. The Facebook page has only 10 likes. The last post was in 2020. The Instragram page has only 104 followers and only 11 posts/photos. That does not bode well.

The artisan soapmaking business is highly competitive. A successful artisan has to make a great soap, but also has to be great at marketing the product.

I purchased two soaps from Mick’s early last year, Cillian (Barbershop) and their limited release Padrais and I would say the performance is comparable to Grooming Department Janus Tallow formula. I'm sure they are reformulating, so shifting old stock at a great price. [Image: ad25bc7e467373792e671e8ab7c19c29.jpg][Image: 5c72e8dacd52cf3f53ea620d6e58e408.jpg]

I have three of their soaps. The performance is great. The scents are hit or miss for me, personally, but they're good soaps.

They're on clearance at their website. It's like $7 for a soap tub. Awesome deal, imo. I believe I read about it from SHAVEWIZARD420 (who is an expert on just about every obscure soap).

Thanks for the shout out Doug! Yeah Mick's is pretty damn good stuff and for the price it's a no brainer to at least give it a shot for anyone interested.

I first heard of this artisan on the forums and going to the website to check them out ended up with 4 scents with Condor being the most unique and mysterious one.

As for performance, Mick's is very good and lathers easily with no issues. Value well above the price without a doubt

I just got an email from the gentleman at mick's. I sent him an email because it's been a long while since they started the clearance sale, and with the questions flying around as to whether they'll restart, I really wanted to know.

Everyone will be happy to hear they are coming back! They're just reformulating their catalog. However, their base is staying the same. That's awesome news, as their soap is pretty darn good.

Personally, I had never heard of them until the sale. That's sad, but I think a lot of people are in the same boat. Perhaps, that sale is exactly what their marketing team needed to get the name out. Lol. I for one will absolutely be buying some of their soap when it comes back in stock. The two I have now are quite amazing.

Wanted to share this good news with everybody. Have a great evening folks.

I believe Mick's was a merchant on DFS for a year, but wasn't real active.

Interesting. I wonder if that was before me (2018) or if their inactivity just didn't generate much in the line of talk?

Looking at the list of ingredients and comparing that list to other soaps I have tried, I suspect the performance is excellent. The soap is probably worth the list price of $18.00 and easily should be worth the sale price of $6.95. For someone on a budget, this might be a great opportunity. The problem may be that when these soaps are sold out, there may be no more. However, the later is just speculation.
Mick's is back! Just got an email last night, they've got all of their soaps in stock again. Whew!

This is surely making it harder not to shop. I'll eventually breakdown and grab a backup of Tómas. It is among my top 5 scents, for sure.

It's true. We are back!

During our time away we decided to change a few things about our business and product branding. We completely changed our online store and product labeling to reflect these changes.

After much deliberation, we narrowed our core PROPER SHAVE fragrances down to four. These are our most popular. We kept the same fragrance names - Cillian, Conor, Séamus and Tomás - but did change the tartans associated with Cillian and Séamus. With our PROPER HAIR line, we went with a signature scent only - Cillian.

These core fragrances will be available year-round. We will release limited-edition fragrances throughout the year. Pádraig and Finbar could return as a limited edition.

With PROPER SHAVE, we did update our base formulation. While we were pleased with our prior base we called "Tullamore", we thought we could do better.

Our new base is called "Galway". Like Tullamore, Galway is tallow based and includes premium specialty butters and oils, along with Coconut Milk and Goat Milk Powder. We still include cosmetic-grade ingredients to aid in slickness, hydration, skin protection, and a proper post-shave experience.

The ingredients are: Aqua (Water), Stearic Acid, Beef Tallow, Kokum Butter, Castor Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Coconut Milk, Shea Butter, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance, Cupuaco Butter, Xanthan Gum, Coconut Oil, Sorbitol, Mango Butter, Methyl Gluceth-10, Jojoba Oil, Sucrose Cocoate, Safflower Oil, Avocado Oil, Goat Milk Powder, Sodium Lactate, Carnauba Wax, Allantoin, Sodium Gluconate, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Oil), Silk Peptides.
