Mandarin was the name originally given to this design by Frank and Lynn McInroy. Somehow it came to be known as the L7.

A 24 mm Jade version that I bought directly from Lee Sabini in 2012 served as the point of departure for what came to known as the Chief. If I'd had the 26 mm size instead (not very many were made), I don't know that I would have been motivated to change it. The McInroys' records indicate that only 32 Size 3 (26 mm) Mandarins were made in total (17 of which were Ivory, 15 Butterscotch, and 8 Jade).
