I shaved this AM with it again after a hiatus. I remember posts on other forums trying to firm up the soap with a visit to the refrigerator and many comments on a somewhat dry post shave feel. I liked it well enough before and it seems to have matured in the same manner of wines reaching their post bottling peak. I experienced this once before with my first Pre de Provence. I felt some burning from the aromatic oils and was very disappointed, having enjoyed their bath soaps. I left it opened for a few weeks and in whim gave it a second chance. WOW! the scent, still lovely gave no issue and it is now a favoured soap with a cautionary airing time.
I can't think offhand of any soaps being dated or strategies of aging like wine or cheese. Soapmakers will probably say my experience anecdotal without basis. It could be the barometric pressure, alignment of the planets or my lack of REM sleep. Like everything else, sometimes a second date works out better.
