I may try that also but mine actually worked fine with no shim at all before. When I tried with a shim the goal was to not only see how much more it stiffened the locking mechanism but also to see how it changed the shave with a wider gap.

Besides the fact that razor has a unique locking mechanism when you shim a razor that way it helps the blade has chattering issues. That one I know doesn't so it would for tightening purposes.

I've been asked to respond to questions about my somewhat overpriced Krect-Shave Razor on eBay.
First, I've been in a remote location (Lake Quinault) for the last 2 months without internet or cell phone service.
My lady friend has been managing my eBay account while I was enjoying my respite from civilization.
Second, I got into it for more $ than I'm happy with, and would like to recoup most of my funds.
The price I am asking reflects the $200 I'm into it + the $30 it will cost me to sell it on that forum.
Lastly, I posted it there instead of here because I didn't think the price I was asking would sell here.
That's pretty much it.  I have 2 of them, and this one has not been used since being restored by Razorplate.
They did a very good job, and they have my recommendations, but times are tight, and I could use that $200 back.
Everything for sale sells eventually, and I'm in no particular hurry.  If you want it for $200, please inquire.  Thanks.

You owe no one an explanation for something you're selling on ebay. What happened to the "the market will dictate the value" we hear with regard to other makers razors all the time. These show up LESS often than those and are NOT still being produced. I wish you the best on your sale  Happy2

Time for this to be brought back
Thursday January 28, 2021
Razor: Gratiot Krect Spiral Curve Slant
Blade: Wizamet (?)
Brush: Sorrentino Orange Crush
Soap: Lakewood SOCP (1508.5 Project)
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Terre D'Hermes Splash
Fragrance: Terre D'Hermes EdT

I want to get to the new slant from China but this trumps it when it came in yesterday. Had one of these that was rough on the edge of the top cap but shaved like a dream other than that. I sent it off to have it redone but when it came back it didn't shave the same. Too much had to be removed from the cap to get the edge smooth before it was re-plated perhaps. I don't know but the shave was different to me. I like shiny things but will refrain from getting this one done as the shave today was a reminder of the original before getting worked with the exception that the cap is smooth on the edge. I'm afraid to mess with it. What a nice, smooth and comfortable shave was had this morning. VERY happy to have gotten another as these are pretty rare especially the plated brass version. Amazing how they could produce such a spiral curved slant with such a thin head as compared to what we see in a typical slant today and I love the handle attachment design which is unique to say the least. Hope all have a great day today !!

Razor: Gratiot Krect Spiral Curve Slant
Blade: Wizamet (?)
Brush: Techichi The Hive
Soap: Lakewood SOCP (1508.5 Project on Steroids)
AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
AS 2: Nivea 2 into 1 Splash
Fragrance: Scuderia Ferrari Black

The soap is reducing at a good pace now but we all know how long the death ring can hold on. Still I've been staying with it. Took the Krect back out for a glorious shave and I have to say that it was so worth ending my No Buy for this razor. Topped off with the Ferrari Black and ready for Coffee and chilling before heading out the door to battle whatever the world has to throw at me. Have a great day Guys !

I had my Krect-Shave replated and, like Dave, l found that the shave quality had been changed for the worse, probably because too much material had been removed from the baseplate in the replating process, resulting in a loose fit.

I did however figure out a solution that effectively restored the original shave quality.  By putting two shims on top of the blade (not underneath it, as is usually done) I was able to tighten up the fit without increasing the blade gap.

Putting the shims under the blade tightens up the fit, but also increases the blade gap, which makes for an even rougher shave.

Glad you found a work around that. Both of mine were not loose fitting. In fact neither required any shim to be intact for a shave. My rough edge top cap was smoothed out removing some width on it which increased blade exposure perhaps. I asked them to smooth it so it wasn't the replaters fault. I'd like to replate but afraid of losing this great shave with no shims needed.
