I don’t know what it is it’s a stunning razor looks beautiful and made well by Chris from Karve

I’m keeping this razor as my mother bough me last year for my birthday but this year I’m looking to get Timeless Titanium .68 doesn’t require angle

UPDATE: I ended up buying an E plate off bst. I used it yesterday and today. I realized a few weeks ago that the D plate I had was working ok. I have to say after 2 shaves with the E Plate that I’m now on board. The e plate is amazing for me. I’ve never had such an effortless bbs irritation free shave. I’m afraid the lower plates simply weren’t efficient enough for me and I was hacking my face off trying to get a good shave.

I’ve also realized that my usual go to blades are the only blades that work for me in any razor. After 10 years, I have given up on all blades except Permasharps which I have used as my main blade for a few years but am not retiring all others.

Long story short, it was the plate.

I think if you're struggling with irritation with Karve A plates, you might still get irritation from the Timeless.

Have you thought about trying a higher plate? I like a little blade feel to know where the blade is and keep me from applying too much pressure. Maybe try a C OC plate.

I have tried and find too much blade exposure one way or other but Karve SS I’ll keep it looks nice and my mother bough me last year for my birthday, I do get shaves from it but not as expected. Beautiful Razor tho worth having it in den and collection.

It’s about right plate and Blade this is the Key at Least to my opinion and view.

I use Tiger Platinum or Tatra Blade which is same Czech Company and maker just different packaging.

Try Karve More Practise with it like I did and sure enough it did work but you need to find what blades works best for you and your skin so it doesn’t create irritation etc.

Also I like longer handle like 3.5” I find it easier to manoeuvre and shave with it.

I just tried plate C and if you can believe I had amazing shave even tho I Use Plate A or B I’m a mild shaver so it tells you something.

Thanks for your thoughts about Karve. I am just curious, what is your first language?

It’s so true about getting the right blade - razor combination. It’s funny, when I started out a few years back with the EJ DE89 I got several blade sampler packs and tried all of the blades. I kept notes so I wouldn’t forget. As I acquired additional razors I quickly realized that what worked in the EJ didn’t necessarily work in other razors and that I would basically have to go through the sampler pack / notes process with each razor to determine the optimal blades for every razor. There are some razors like the Rockwell 6s that work very well with a broad range of blades but that’s an exception in my experience. I don’t know this for a fact but I think that many of us, on acquiring a new possibly higher end razor just expect it to work well with our current favourite blades and that’s not always the case. I think it would be wise to get back to the sampler pack and notebook to determine the best combination for us before giving up on the razor.

As for Alan’s first language, given that he lives (I think) in Montreal which is also the city of my birth, I’d say his first language is French, same as mine Smile
