I have has the same experience. I have emailed him about basic polish SS and no response.

Maybe because they don’t offer a basic polish SS. The bead blasted/matte finish is their only SS offering currently.

Too small a sample size for me to have confidence. I hope you're right. But could just be that he has those in stock. I'm a fan of the quality and price point of Karve razors, so I'm hoping he gets this all in order soon.

I know those on the titanium pre-order didn't have to put money down. For those with polished stainless steel pre-orders, is your money still with Karve? By the way, this just reinforces my belief that every Karve polished stainless steel razor that you see in SOTD photos and BST are enthusiast-polished razors, not direct from Karve.

Could be. Thanks for the info, I did not know that.

I just had a question on what the finish was on the on the SS offering and wanted to confirm that he was in fact shipping product and no response. I don’t really care too much at this point, almost all the other artisans are very responsive and there are no shortage of good hardware options these days.

I wonder if I hear a few good more reports I might go for something from there. Honestly, all I want is the regular Brass razor with a B and a C plate to test. Seems like those are always in stock.

More or less all parts are usually in stock. What has irritated many in the past is that the parts receive their final finish post-order. This used to take a very long time but looks to have gone down to more or less 1 week.

As others have mentioned. If you like to discuss things with the Artisan prior to buying, you may wait a while for a reply. Chris used to have someone employed for customer relations that took care of emails, social media etc. Perhaps it would be prudent for him to get someone (student/housewife) onboard again for just a few hours a day just for emails (who needs socials media?) This oversight seems to be upsetting people more than anything.

Where some artisans are very good at communication, they outsource their production to others. Since Karve is a one man show that produces his razors himself, it makes sense to outsource at least some of the communication work.

Yeah I've reached out via email probably five or six weeks ago and haven't heard anything.  Then I heard many others had as well.  It is what it is, he isn't going to email back, thats his deal.

I do appreciate people that communicate I can't lie.  Matt at Timeless hits you back with a response within a day or two and is always informative.  In almost every case that Matt contacted me back, I bought a razor.  What the gentleman at Karve either does not understand or does not care about, is he is losing business by not communicating. At this point, I and many others in this thread are on the fence that we can even get something shipped to us that is "IN STOCK." That is a horrible reputation to have and he is not improving it by ignoring emails.  Just my two cents. Hearing people are receiving merchandise currently that is being shipped at least within a couple weeks sounds like an improvement to where it was, looking back at this thread months ago so who knows.

Merry Christmas all.

Nice to see that Karve is being Karve!! 8 days to parcel a package is just unacceptable!! Still can't see why anyone would want to buy from this guy? He just gives this industry a black eye...

So 8 days from printing a label to getting it out of his shop is acceptable to you? The guy just prints the label to make you think its been shipped and to get you off his back is all he does!! Just buying extra time and making him look worse and worse. Very deceptive business practices!! Very dishonest!!

People have been saying they hope he gets it together for going on 3yrs now and the guy still hasn't got a clue...and people accept that behavior and says its ok!! I am starting to see people say they can't even pick up their Karve razors to shave anymore because it just reminds them of hos dishonest a business person he is and would rather not shave with a tool that is associated with dishonesty!!

Its been over a year since the failed polished SS debacle, broken promise and lie after lie and to date I have seen "2" polished razors direct from him in the wild!! One is the one that Jack has paraded in front of everybody for over a year now and the other was just delivered back this past October to a guy over on B&B.... He saw absolutely nothing wrong with it taking a year for him to get his razor!!!!! I'll never understand how that can be remotely acceptable behavior from a mfg in todays society!!

This thread has convinced me to pass on Karve. You are right. Matt at Timeless or Shane at Blackland or Aji at H and S or Jake at Yates or Sean at Carbon and several others all treat their customers with respect. Heck, even Tara at Wolfman does her job well.

I bet Karve would sell more razors if he learned something from them.

That is a ton of people affiliated with only razors that are helpful isn't it? Think about that. We aren't talking about the TONS of helpful people affiliated with wet shaving like Rod from Stirling or the gentleman from Barrister and Mann, but literally just people that are helpful that run businesses selling razors. And I've seen the help from Shane at Blackland first hand here on the forum as well as a long time ago in emails. It takes all kinds out there I guess and Karve just is fine with how things are going. I mean heck, after reading about the performance of the razor, I'm still very interested in owning one. So there you go.

I've seen two guys over there claiming to have received theirs direct from Karve. One back in May who then refused to post pictures. Another one in August, who claimed the polishing was immaculate, but the pictures feature an obvious blemish on the bottom of the handle, which does not align with the initial statement or Chris' reputation of being OCD on quality.

I dunno ... it's just weird that he hasn't finished polishing these. I've seen the Facebook posts where he shows amazing examples and explains that the razors are initially bead blasted, then polished except for two areas (three, depending on how you count it). Surprising that he doesn't just get these out and then announce that he's not selling any more because it's too big a hassle to polish any more. He really needs to just yank off the band-aid.

No interest in the polished. I think the bead blasted is more special, but I have to admit the photos of the polished top cap and base plate are pretty incredible.
