Which Thater boar brush did you get? I’m much more active on the Shave Nook forums as gmhjr06. Starting to get more active on this one too.

I bought the black beehive. It's sitting in my office, as it arrived Friday after I left work a tad early. I thought about going into the office yesterday or today to pick it up, but decided that was a bit much, even for me...

P.S. I'm pbrmhl on that forum.

Got it. Yeah, I think I will pull the trigger on the ivory beehive after I get the SS General tomorrow.

I'm really considering pulling the trigger on this razor but I had a question regarding the plate levels from those that have already used this razor.

Currently I have an Edwin Jagger DE89 and a Timeless 0.68 (closed comb scalloped base). Both razors work well for me but if I'm being honest the perfect razor for me is probably a little more aggressive than the EJ and a little less aggressive than the Timeless. So, any recommendation regarding the Karve razor? Plate B or C?

I haven't used any of the other razors but I feel like plate B has minimal blade feel. And I get shaves as good as my Slim on 9 but they feel like my Slim on 4 or 5.

From what you are describing, it would seem that Plate C would be best for you.
From my experience, Plate C is almost what you are looking for. I have one and I would, subjectively, say that it is similar to what you are describing.
Plate D is closer in feel to the Timeless .95, but not quite as efficient, for me, anyway.

For $100 CDN, I would highly recommend this razor as it is all-brass and extremely well made, especially, the knurling/grooves on the handle.
Good luck.

Hi Celestino I know the Timeless .95 scalloped is a great razor for me would you also suggest getting the plate D or the razor not necessary to own. I own almost every high-end razor so I wanted to know if even though the price is good is it worth it to have thanks so much and Merry Christmas

Let me first state that I have been getting some very good shaves with Plate D and I think I am enjoying this razor and I will keep it.

Now, your question is a difficult one to answer because if you are enjoying the Timeless .95, then I don't see a reason for you to own this razor as the Timeless is a bit more efficient, in my opinion. Nevertheless, if you want an all-brass razor that is beautifully machined and shaves very well and you would like to add another unique razor to your collection, then I would suggest getting it with Plate D as it is the most similar to the Timeless .95. However, if you don't want to do this, then you won't be missing out on this razor with regards to improved shaves.

Please, understand that this is very subjective and you may have different views regarding this razor, so I hope I have helped in some way.
Good luck and happy holidays to you and your family. Shy

Thanks for your feedback it definitely helps me. Will probably pass on this razor. Not only the timeless but I just received the Paradigm 17-4 and Tatara razor which are also right up there if not at the top of the list

I think this is a wise decision seeing how you have some great razors, already. Shy

Is there any blade movement with this razor? I like how blades fit snuggly in my timeless and I’m hoping that blade alignment or movement won’t be an issue with this razor.

2 shaves in and my initial thoughts are It is a good looking razor with nice balance and weight. I really like the knurling on the handle. The first 2 shaves using a Gillette red stainless blade and plate D are very good, not great. More blade feel than my Timeless .95 and not quite as efficient but I am still working on the angle. No nicks, cuts or irritation. In defense of this razor I am just coming off 2 weeks of using the 17-4 Paradigm which is super smooth. I want to give this razor a good 2 weeks before I decide if it’s a keeper but it sure looks and feels nice especially at the price.
