Calm_Shaver I can easily get around 10 shaves with a KAI, but it's worth noting that I only do one or two passes per shave.

Been meaning to push a blade much further than that, for science. If I do, it'll most likely be a KAI.

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

Matsilainen Thank you for that helpful insight. That’s great to hear, as they’re more expensive than other blades.

I usually go for 3 passes, so if I get 5-6 shaves per blade, it’s a winner in my book

I just recently got back to using a Kai and am on shave 2 with it. Trying to go for 12 shaves on this blade. I think I went to 10 on my last one a couple months ago.

Things could be different if I use it on another milder razor such as Rockwell one.

Anyway Kai was sharp but not smooth to me.

It can be very different to other people Smile

I know what you mean. I find the Kai a little harsh in most razors. That’s why I’m so impressed with how it feels in the Karve. I’m sure many of us fall into a habit of using a small number of blade brands that work for us in specific razors. Why wouldn’t we? But our favourite blades in one razor don’t always work well in other razors so it’s a good idea to run through a trial period whenever you get a new razor. Who knows? You might discover a new favourite razor-blade combination. I know I did with the Karve and Kai

I totally agree with you mate Smile

I think I'm going to try Kai on Rockwell 6C.
Let's see how it will be.

My favourite blade is Feather; sharp and very smooth. I mostly like Teflon coated blades such as Gillette Silver Blue, Platinum(light blue package), Voskhod and so on though Feather is not teflon coated Smile

Just like you, I like to find good combinations of blades and razors

I've been experimenting with the Rockwell 6S and 2P. Used a number of different blades, but could not get a BBS shave. Not even with a Feather. Tried the Kia and that did the trick. Must be the extra width. BBS and no irritation. Great combo for me.

Feather is my favourite blade but back when I was starting out using the EJ DE89 and keeping notes on all the different blades I was trying out from a sample pack, my one word notes on the Feather was “ouch”.  Different razors and improved technique and now Feather is my favourite. Not in the EJ DE89 however.

I had some in a sampler pack that were not good.
So hard to tell anymore what's what.

Same with me. Kai are definitely one of my top 3 best blades.

As previously mentioned, they are wider thereby providing more blade exposure than other blades.  By my measurements the difference in blade exposure between an Astra SP and a Kai blade is somewhere around .05+ mm, enough to change the feel of a razor, especially a "mild" razor.  As an added note, Personna SP's are slightly narrower than Astra blades.  I guess my point is that sharpness and durability are not the only considerations in blade choice.  I like the Kai blade but for me they deserve a little more care, especially around my chin and upper lip.
