Just received a package from The Razor Company. Got Macduffs Birch + Root when it came back in. Also grabbed a tube of Proraso Red (already emptied out to dryout). Finally, they tossed in a barbershop air freshener.

As always, they are a class act.

Nice haul Paul, what's the goal of drying it out for?

First off, I got the idea from TobyC , I can't take credit for it (thanks Toby!)...

IMO, it works so much better dried and lathered like a hard soap than used as a cream. Thicker and more protective.

The dry tub you can buy isn't as good as the cream dried either, imo. Also, I get less of the Proraso 'white film' from dried cream than the tub of soap.

The downside is you loose a lot of the 5.2oz to evaporation. Still worth it for me.

Hey Paul. How's the scent on the Macduff's? I was just looking at that one last night. Have you had a chance to test the soap performance?

I’m a big fan of the soap and splash. Very hydrating. The soap is soft, but whips up a very thick creamy lather. Can take a lot of water so don’t use too much at once. Their V3 soaps are as good as v4 but are discounted on their site.

I haven't tried the latest soap version (I think v.4) but I'd be surprised if it weren't as good or better than v3 and that was great on both performance and scent.  Shawn does a lot of the natural woodsy scents and he does them very well.  That said, my favourite MacDuffs scent is still Old Sea Captain.  Happy2

Absolutely my experience. A great soap base. This scent is awesome, too. A natural Root Beer. Not overpowering, but also not too light. Just perfect. It won't have that candy scent, and you'll be able to pinpoint most of the ingredients.

I kicked myself for not grabbing it sooner and it disappeared from stock quick. I'm so glad they replenished. Free shipping from TRC really was a nice bonus.
