It's Fall.   I know, I know.....officially it started on September 21 but here in N.E. Ohio it is finally starting to feel like fall.  The temp. dropped to 39 Deg. F this morning and the leaves are starting to show some color.   So, what is your favorite or top two fall aftershaves?

I have already given away that my Fall Favorite is Clubman Whiskey Woods:

I have another but will reserve that until I have heard from some of you.   Also, maybe you could tell us a bit about your Fall Philosophy, i.e. is there a method to your madness?  Are there certain aromas that you consider Fall aromas?  Is there such a thing as a Fall soap, etc.

These are my ultimate fall favorites:

Declaration Grooming Darkfall, Barrister and Mann Nocturne, Stirling Soap Co. Autumn Glory, Chicago Grooming Co. Smoke on the Water, and my current favorite scent MacDuff's Autumn Cabin. I wish I liked their aftershave because I would have the splash too. I would love an EdP of this! Whaddya say Macduffs_Soap_Co? Big Grin

EDIT: I just noticed there's a solid cologne. I don't have any experience with those so I'm not sure how well it projects or how long it lasts.

Just curious, is there a common element to those different products?

Yes, they are all "cozy" scents to me. They all either have woodsy or smoky elements to them. One of my favorite things to do this time of year is go camping so being outdoors by a fire in the crisp air is very enjoyable to me. Scents that evoke those times bring good memories and nostalgic feelings.

Darkfall is earthy and smoke tinged, but the agarwood (oud) and benzoin bring a sweetness to it. Here's the description from DG's site: "Darkfall is a spicy oriental designed to capture the spirit of fall in the rural south. Agarwood, amber, and benzoin provide a deep, warm base for the cinnamon and clove top notes. Birch tar adds a slight smokiness that represents the ever-present smell of burning leaves that heralds the arrival of fall in Georgia."

Barrister and Mann Nocturne is basically a cider mill in soap/splash form. Lovely stuff. Here's the tail end of their description: "After long experimentation, we blended the scents of apples, newly fallen leaves, woodsmoke, benzoin, and the faintest touch of cinnamon to create a slightly smokey, faintly spicy, wonderful scent perfect for the crisp, clear days of Autumn."

Stirling's Autumn Glory is a little bit different and harder to describe. It's sweet(ish) and spicy. It's also earthy, but leans brighter without a definitive smoky note. It somehow captures that decaying leaf smell in there too. The notes include Damp Earth, Cedar, Oak, Musk, Sandalwood, Black Pepper, Apple.

Chicago Grooming Co. Smoke on the Water is a sweet tobacco type scent that isn't really fall specific I guess, but it's a warm, cozy scent to me so I place it there. Despite the name it's not super smoky or anything. Not as much as Nocturne or Darkfall. The notes for this one are Tobacco Flower, Tobacco, Pipe Smoke, Oud, Sweet Oakmoss, Pink Pepper, Honey, Smoke. I think the tobacco, tobacco flower, and honey stand out here along with a sprinkle of pepper.

Last but certainly not least is Autumn Cabin by MacDuff's. This one is realistically woodsy with a more evergreen and cedar prominent scent. The other notes are beautifully blended and hard to pick out, but round out the composition and add depth with the perfect amount of sweetness. They are listed as Toasted Maple, Fir Needle, Balsam Fir, Juniper, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Pear, Lemon, Cardamom. The description on the website nails it far better than I could so I'll just link it here. macduffssoapcompany.com/shop/AUTUMN-CABIN-SHAVE-SOAP-p236127947

I'm sure there are a lot more great fall scents out there, but these are my favorite ones I've come across. I'm curious to read about some other suggestions.

OK, here is another one of my fall favorites:  Pino Silvestre

I don't detect any pine (do any of you?), mostly herbal so it goes well with Cella, but I sure like the bottle.

In my fantasy shave world, I would pair it with a pine scented shave soap.  Are there any?

I tend to get a lot of lemon off of PS (at least the EDT), but I like it too.

How about Scots Pine Sheep or Coniferous from Stirling as a complementing soap? Or Taiga from B&M (although it’s not straightforward pine).

I really like The Explorer from Zingari as a fall scent, and B&M Taiga. The Noir et Vanille from Noble Otter is really nice too, in a different way. In SoCal it doesn’t get all that cold so I sit here and wait for winter to bring out a couple other sets that I really enjoy.
I also think Terre de Hermes dupes/homages are fitting: DG Trismegestus, Mike’s O/C/BP, etc.

Could you describe those scents a bit?

Zingari and Taiga I think of as fresh woodsy scents, definitely lighter than some other “dark” woodsy scents I’ve tried. Zingari has Explorer notes up on their site but I’m not sure if B&M has any Taiga stuff right now.

TNEV is a tea and vanilla based scent, but not an overbearing heavy vanilla. Has a nice black tea profile that is just comforting when the weather is a little cooler.
