Hi @Glenn Miller I hear you, I find that some blades work differently in different razors.  The Israeli reds that I so loved in the RR black mamba was not very nice in the Wolfman.  Too many razors and too many blades adds up to too many permutations and combinations to keep track of without writing it down.

Good point. I'm in the midst of a 30 day focus with nothing but Old Types, so my view is very specific for the moment.

What are you focusing on?

I've decided that instead of just randomly selecting a razor and blade combination on a daily basis I'm selecting the combination to use for the week. I'll vary the soap / aftershave but I want to spend more time with each combination of razor and blade to learn and hone my technique, not to mention keeping straight how many shaves I have on which blades etc. I'm trying to apply this to my reading list as well - read one book at a time through to the end and move on instead of the undisciplined approached I'd fallen in to where I would have any number of books at various stages at any time. Got confusing.Smile

I just finished with a Red Pack blade. I usually get seven good shaves from most DE blades and the Red Pack blade is no exception. I used a variety of razors, from a Gillette Slim (set on 5), to both a short and long comb Gillette NEW, to an iKon Shavecraft 101, to a STAR DE, plus two others and all of the shaves were close and irritation free. No nicks, cuts, or weepers. I do have blades that probably perform better but the Israeli Personna Red Packs, for me, are reliable and I always enjoy returning to them.

I've only tried the Israeli Reds in this packaging. They along with Polsilver SI and GSB's make my top 3 blades.

Never seen one in a red tuck and red wrapper before.

jsanchez, I believe the tuck of 5 blades comes in the red pack (at least they used to) and that is where the blade derived its nickname.

I see. I was just googling them and I found some Personna Red's however they were made in Mexico... Are they all no longer made in Israel or just regional?

That I didn't know. I hope they don't stop making them in Israel. It seems every time I find a blade I like and they move production to a different country, the quality goes down.

The facility in Obregon, Mexico doesn't make blades from what I understand. They just do packaging, distribution, etc. But more importantly, they were split off along with the US Personna factory into a new company, AccuTec, while the Israeli factory, which is definitely still operating, stayed with Edgewell (formerly Energizer). So while in the past some Israeli blades were packaged in Mexico, they no longer have anything to do with each other.

Yesterday I loaded my Maggard Razors open comb V2 on its heavy MR5 handle and had that same experience on the second pass!  And this morning, shave 2 with the blade, same thing: second pass is quiet except for my "touch up" spots where the grain reminds me of crop circles.  What an interesting sensation.  And nice shave for me as well.  My trusty Silver Blues are getting some stiff competition now!

Hey Marko, I completely agree! They are great blades and from what I have heard, will work for a majority of guys. I throw them into rotation often!

They are heads above all other blades for me, and I don't hesitate to recommend them to guys. Of course they won't work for everyone, but I think they have a pretty good shot with most folks.
