With due respect to Chris I'm sure he's right this is a private label Rooney but I believe the script on the label says "Cable Car Clothiers" and the block print may read "Robert Kirk, Ltd" instead of Robert Talbott.  I think Cable Car Clothiers was a British Men's Store in San Francisco, and I think they had their label on Robert Talbott as well as on other brands.

Check these labels: the "Robert Kirk Ltd" seems to be the same font as the "Robert..." on the brush label.

I will correct myself: Cable Car Clothiers IS a men's store in San Francisco. https://cablecarclothiers.com/

Perhaps the OP could email them a picture of the label for validation.

CCC is a rather odd store to say the least. I bought dress civilian clothing there in the seventies during my service. They have a fascinating display of historical men's dress artifacts and were a source of several local fads. Summer of 76 they sold straw boaters and newspaper columnist Herb Caen said the town looked like a roaring twenties movie with John Dillinger impersonators. The goods were predominantly British and old east coast. About 78 their rent skyrocketed and rather than move they simply jacked prices up to ridiculous levels. Somehow old SF money, IGENTS and young techy gentrification fools have kept them going out of some sense of local obligation. Robert Kirk makes very old school east coast three piece suits favored by John Kerry. They have always carried Robert Talbott with CCC pretty much the west coast outlet. I had clothing with labels from all three on one raw shantung silk sportscoat.

Chris , I'm not surprised at all that you were a customer. The place reminds me a bit of the gentlemen's stores in Cambridge, Mass. I'll have to visit sometime for a bit of nostalgia.
Perhaps Robert Talbott was purchased -- I am familiar with a store in Carmel.
