Curious about some razors I saw recently. Razor emporium has these two types of Ikon razors for sale for an impressive $450 each. When I started wet shaving the only think Ikon had was the aluminum head. Anyone have any experience with these?

Nope, but I don’t think I’d be paying 450 for one!

So apparently there was a Stainless steel version.
Edit: I guess it was really the tech I was thinking about.

I have the double open comb stainless steel. It’s a pretty aggressive razor. Not quite as aggressive as the ikon Tech but close. If someone wanted to give $450 for it I think I could bring myself to part with it. Smile

I don't think they are worth that price but to each his own...

Agree that the price is overrated. Was just curious if anyone knew the scoop on them. What year they were made, what they shave like, are the heads 303 or 316 SS? I like aggressive, so maybe I’ll keep my eye out for one someday unless is super rare and will always fetch a crazy price.

I've had both in days gone by, and sold them.  They are generally more available in DLC.  The safety bar is reputed to be more aggressive.  I found it to be more rough than efficient.  The open comb is milder, and the baseplate is compatible with the Feather ASD2 topcap.  That's what I know about them.  I don't like Greg Kahn's attitude, and won't buy from him.

I bought some the first razors that were made in Thailand. They were all stainless steel and machined manually as there was no CNC maching back then. This was about 2007-8.  I had a spindle stainless steel (similar to Merkur 34c) which was a two piece razor. I don't buy based on personality as I would own nothing. Greg happens to be a gifted engineer and machinest. The first razor I had from Greg was shipped from Thailand and cost $45 .
