I've warmed up to synthetics over the last few years and find I'll go through spurts when I use them regularly. Then I'll use badgers or boars for awhile. The variety is nice and there's something to enjoy in all of them. I like the APShaveCo knots that Max references above -- the tuxedo, the silksmoke, the cashmere are all good so I ordered the 30mm Synbad now too.
The variety is nice. I like going back to badgers and prefer to stick with badger or synths for a week straight before switching up. No pokiness with the SynBad. Soft tips with a bit of backbone. I’m really enjoying the SynBad. I like larger knots so stuck with the 30mm. Hope you guys enjoy this new knot as much as I have.
My first brush several years ago was an inexpensive badger, which worked fine. Heard about boars and bought an Omega 10066, which also worked well for me. Then I heard about the synthetics and bought a 23 mm Muhle STFv2 --the difference for me was dramatic for all the reasons mentioned about synthetics above, especially face feel and how easy it was to make great lather (the boar went in the closet, and I ended up selling it). Bought a Whipped Dog synthetic, a Maggard, and then on a whim bought a Shave Revolution synthetic on the BST forum for $8, which, ironically, is the best brush for me of any kind I've ever used.
I recently thought I would revisit a boar. It's pretty well broken in, and I'm enjoying the change of pace; but I like synthetics so much, I can't foresee a natural bristle brush of any kind getting more than occasional use...unless I'm using a pretty hard soap.

My thanks to vtmax for bringing up the SynBad knots. I think my favorite is the BC Silvertip synthetic from RazoRock, but I love the Big Bruce and my two older Maggards as well (Purple swirl and a Black & White). But reading here (and a couple of other places) led me to place an order for a SynBad. Today I will shave later with the 24 mm SynBad in the Blue Lagoon handle. It looks gorgeous, feels wonderfully soft, yet seems smaller than my other 24 mm brushes. The loft must be shorter, but I am not a brush expert! Thanks again for the info, and I'll write more later after a few shaves with it this week.
