I made a video w/ a tip for breaking in boar brushes very quickly

Firstly, I thoroughly enjoyed this " How To " about quickly breaking in a boar brush,
It is useful and I am going to try it starting tonight.

I do have one criticism. A constructive criticism. Please do not be offended as none was intended.
Indeed, I eagerly look forward to your future presentations. Your clarity and enthusiasm are commendable.
Watch what you have presented and check how many times you have repeated yourself.
Those repetitions detract from the excellence of this film.

Jeff, while bad for you, I'm even happier that I had the knot removed and replaced with a tuxedo synthetic.  In fact, it's in the mail to me right now.

As you point out, the handle, alone was worth the $7.95 so all is not yet lost.  I sincerely hope you can find a better knot than the one that came with the brush.  Good luck.

Matsilainen, yeah, scritch-inflictors would be a good way to describe them. There are far too many to try and pluck out too. In comparison, I scrutinized my Zenith boar and found a grand total of 3 upside down hairs.

Thanks for your ideas on other options. Those were all I could come up with too. I wish I could get a Zenith knot. They're brushes are too pricey to buy one just to destroy it and extract the knot.

wyze0ne, indeed, three hairs can be plucked out or clipped near the knot base without issue, but when there’s more than 10 of them, that’s a no-go.

Have you looked at TVB Shaving for boar brushes? (https://www.tvbshaving.com/shaving-brushes/bristle) Their prices are very agreeable (not just for the boar brushes), but of course shipping adds some expense, and it will probably take a while for the shipment to get from Romania to you.

Wow, thanks Matsilainen! I never knew TVB sold Zeniths. I just placed an order for one with the same knot size as the Stirling for $4.29! Yes, $4.29. Shipping was a little over 5 bucks so I'll be in the brush for about $18-19 once it's fixed.

Sorry for derailing the thread a bit...I hope this break-in method works for anyone who tries it. I think the reason it didn't work for me is because my brush is defective. With my next one though, I think I'll join primo's camp and let it break in naturally from just using it.
