There is a nice Reddit channel, curatedshaveforum, that re-posts shave forum and shaving social media content where somebody is just being a ridiculous arse. Needless to say, this one is in there, and other CDB stuff turns up quite regularly. It’s a very fun channel if you do Reddit.

For somebody who probably has a literal walk-in closet full of shave gear to be constantly focused on the price per oz thing is absolutely ridiculous. Acting like he's some champion of all the downtrodden, less-than-rich hobbyist wetshavers out there. Please. These are all luxury items, far removed from any sort of necessity. If somebody's wallet is hurting that badly they are most likely shaving with canned foam and disposable razors. I agreed with some of his other points in the video, but to act like the artisans that raised their prices a few bucks is some egregious sin is again, ridiculous. It's pretty simple, if you don't like the price, don't buy it. It's not like any of us need more soap.

You think he might be virtue signalling, in his clumsy, insincere way?

I don’t know. I am always grateful when a rich person goes to the trouble of explaining to me how poor people feel. I think it’s good for me to keep grounded, and rich people probably explain it much better since they are so articulate.

Now where did I put my martini?

If I am gonna compare every soap with price per oz, I cannot purchase any soap. Cuz, I have over 40 soaps in my den, and their current price is $0 per oz.

Every artisan has own profile, this makes hobby more enjoyable, and give us more options.
Stirling has excellent value. Great soap, and lots of scents.
Ethos or T&S cost more, but they are using essential oils and organic ingredients.
MDC expensive, too. But you can get many shaves per oz, and it is excellent soap.

If you are happy with your purchase, and you are using often,
I think the soap (any price per oz) has great value.

I watched the CDB video posted a few posts ago and I really just don't understand Chris' rant towards soap makers. does he expect these soap makers (many of them are very small operations) to just constantly absorb raw material price increases without passing along those increases to the consumer to help stay profitable?

to me it sounds more like Chris needs to watch some economics videos or read some economics books (preferably Austrian economics, please!)....
