Been a fan of the I Coloniali soap for awhile. Has a very unique scent unlike any other I have experienced. The best I've seen it described is something like smokey church incense (if you grew up in the Catholic Church, you would connect the smell). Thing is, finding an aftershave or balm to compliment it is a challenge - the smell from the soap is strong and stays with you post-shave for quite awhile, but I like/need something healing and soothing post-shave. Well, I Coloniali makes a mango oil balm (same ingredient as in soap, it seems). It's a little pricy for a balm, so I've never ordered it before. But a few weeks ago, I caught it at a real good price on Amazon & pulled the trigger. Got it in last week. Boy, this is some really nice stuff. Scent is a little bit different from the soap but very complimentary of it. The best I could describe it is taking that incense smell from the soap and eliminating the smokiness while making the basic scent lightly cologne-like. A classy scent, imo, and it lasts quite a awhile on me for a balm (my wife & teenaged daughter both like it, fwiw). It will also go with pretty much any cologny-scented soap, but you would need to be careful about matching up with a fragrance (no need for aftershave with this balm). The balm is very soothing on my face and calms everything down nicely. Goes on a little wet, but dries quickly and lightly, with no film, leaving skin very soft and supple. Hard to describe its texture, but it's half way between a liquid and a solid, altho ever so slightly on the liquid side. Comes in a nice sized jar and since only a little is needed to cover my face and neck, this is going to last me a looooong time. I would definitely consider this a high end, quality product and I give it a solid recommendation for those of you who use balms. As an FYI, it is made in Italy, but the Amazon vendor I got the deal on is in England. Oh, and I should add that while both the soap & balm use mango oil, I can't smell anything remotely like mango in either of them.

I really need to try iColoniali. I've been considering it when shopping on Connaught for a year now.

+1 - the soap for sure, as it is not only unlike anything else out there scent-wise, it is outstanding performance-wise.

Both the soap and aftershave balm are top notch and I absolutely agree with your review.

I have never used the balm but then again I very rarely use any balms. The soap is one of those that I consider a mainstay and one I'll not be without as long as in production. The "one is none" rule, when I get down to one, I reorder to always have n+1.

Great soap and you'll not be disappointed Hobbyist !

I'm sure it is. Do you have the terra-cotta bowl? Connaught offers it in the terra-cotta bowl and a wooden bowl and both look nice.

iColoniali soap has also been on my list for some time. If it's nice I'll end up with the soap and the aftershave.
