Just a query.....

What's the right price for an I coloniali refill puck? How much for the ceramic bowl with a refill? Thanks in advance.

I believe the product has been discontinued.

Still my favourite saving soap. It has been discontinued for years. They are not easy to find and the clay pots even more so.

You are correct. But there are few who are stocked pretty well on this. Thought of knowing the right price these days.

There’s a claypot, new puck, and half puck for sale on the Australian shaving forum called Paste & Cut. The seller is asking for $70 ($US45).

I would say that is around ballpark for what I have seen on the refills. I may remember some selling for around $70 at one point years ago.

IC Mango was never that popular when it was available. You certainly didn’t hear the kind of praise that you do now, probably because it’s unobtainium. It wasn’t even that popular for about 9 months after it was discontinued. I was always a fan of it, so when I made an Amazon order, I’d throw in a puck or two and occasionally a pot. Initially the refill pucks were $19 and the pots about $35-40, and right before the existing stock on Amazon was depleted, refills were about $25 and the pots about $45-55. I only bought a couple of pucks at $25, the rest were lower.

I always kind of compared to Czech and Speake, both high end Italian soaps with fancy pots. C&S refills are about $35 and the machined bowls with soap about $140 though I doubt the IC pot would bring that much but who knows.

That pot is not a simple thing by the way, the inside of the bottom has a high fired gloss (like glass) surface while the outside of the pot has a matte finish that resists water. I don’t know if it’s a coating or a fired glaze. The top is uncoated terra cotta, at least on the inside, probably to wick moisture as unglazed terra cotta does.

The Rhubarb cream has the same scent as does the Rhubarb balm, and they made a bath soap with the same fragrance - you can still find 100g pucks of the bath soap. The larger bath soap came in a terra cotta dish.

Here’s a little eye candy for the fans of discontinued Italian soaps and creams.

Cheers, Steve
