Some of you may know, I am in the construction field. We sell, service, repair, and install fireplaces, woodstoves, pellet stoves and all manner of hearth appliances. I am the office manager for the company. The biggest part of my job is dealing with the clients. Anyhow...

Talking with one of our clients, the subject of shaving came up and of course, I talked about shaving my head with straights. Fast forward about a month, this guy just dropped of a bag FULL of straights, most of which seem to be in decent shape. I haven't gone into great detail on them yet, but I know there are 2 Red Imps in very decent condition and 2 Dubl Ducks, one of which is almost pristine, in the plastic case.

There are also some big 6/8 from Solingen, and a few that I haven't even been able to see a maker's mark on yet. All of them need some cleaning. Some will need new scales, and of course all will need to be honed, but realistically, this guy just dropped off a few hundred dollars worth of razors.

Now...I was not in the office when he dropped them off for me, so I did call him after seeing the Dubl Ducks, and let him know, in full honesty, that with very little effort, they could be worth some money. He was just happy to have them in the hands of someone that would appreciate them.

So I have a bunch f razors to go through after work tonight! I can't wait to get the WonderEdge and Speciale on the stones....

Just a quick teaser photo taken at the restaurant next to the bus stop while I await my commute home.

Too right are 2 Duble Ducks, a Wonderedge with box on top and a Speciale. To the left you can see the 2 Case Red Imps. Bottom left is a trio of Solingen-made 6/8 hollows, and scattered about in there is a Bismarck and a Diamondine. I'll get some better pictures after cleaning them up. The strop was given to me as well. A Baker Universal Strop, leather on both sides, though one side is slightly textured. It's soft, but I'll clean it up with some saddle soap and see how it goes....

A campfire, hearth, woodburning stove has been mankind's focal point of safety since we first picked up a burning ember. Those who provide them in a decentralised society of centralised heating deserve bags of straights.
