how to free up private messaging space

Hi all,

If you're running out of private messaging space, you'll need to clear out some of your messages so people can communicate with you. Please note that your inbox, sent items, drafts and trash can all account towards your storage quota for private messages. Once you delete stuff from your inbox, sent items and drafts folder, make sure you empty the messages from your trash can.

Here's a few different ways you can delete your messages:

1- delete individual messages from your inbox (you can delete your messages in other folders this way as well)



2- delete all of the messages at once (you can delete your messages in other folders this way as well)

I encountered "Mailbox Full" this morning when trying to respond to a time sensitive message from Dragonsbeard.  After deleting the vast bulk of messages from both my inbox and Sent folders (plus all drafts), I noticed the Mailbox Full warning was still there, so I logged out, cleared cache and cookies, and logged back in.  Most, but not all of the deleted messages were deleted.  I re-deleted  as needed so that everything older than July 2021 is gone.  That is probably a roughly 80% reduction.  Unfortunately, the Mailbox Full warning is still present, and I still cannot reply to Dragonsbeard.

How long does it take to turn PM privileges back on?  Am I doing something wrong?  --  Please advise, and thank you.

PS  Meanwhile, I have sent Dragonsbeard an email via the forum's Send an Email feature.

Deleting just puts them in the trash folder. You have to re delete them out of trash now Mike and should be instantaneous breathing room.

Thank you very much Dave in KY.  I went to the trash folder.  At first, I could not figure out how to select All or select a whole page at a time.  Then I noticed the "Empty Folder" button at the bottom of the page.  Pressing it took me to a screen with a list of folders, and emptying the Trash folder did the trick.  Had your post not alerted me to the need for emptying the trash, I would still be scratching my head trying to figure out what to do.  --  Thanks again.
