And on the subject of police/mystery TV series, no-one's mentioned "Vera", which is pretty good.

We're taking it seriously - not sure about your parents but remember, us boomers grew up under the constant threat of mutually assured nuclear destruction.  It takes a lot to shake us.

My parents are not.

They let my sister have a birthday party (she's sig younger than I am) with 10+ kids at some place that was all hard surfaces a day after a case was announced at the University that funds my dad's research lab. They are not forcing her to change her behavior at all. They are barely modifying their own behavior and most of that's been due to their employers.  There was a going away party for another doctor in my dad's lab; all of the boomer doctors went. There were like 20 of them there. They all seem to think theyre going to get it anyway. Certainly with that attitude they will.

A combination of factors makes it such that Covid-19 would be between a 1 in 5 on the bad side to 1 in 10 on the good side for either of them to straight up die.

Im probably one of the younger members on this forum in my very early 30s. I am not ready to say goodbye to one of my parents for no good ****ing reason.

I just lost my last grandparent. He had pneumonia, and his last two weeks were horrific. I melted down and told my dad if he didnt stay the f home that could be him within a month. He was unhappy about it but it at least moved the needle a little bit.
I'm sorry if I seemed cavalier about this, that wasn't my intention - I also am appalled at the behaviours of many people who should know better.  We had some cases come out of a curling bonspiel of dozens of doctors that took place only last weekend - the vector was a doctor who had just the day before arrived back from Las Vegas and saw no need to self isolate for the recommended 14 days.  For the love of God this has to be the most reckless behaviour I can think of.  As far as your parents, maybe you can impress upon them that even if they have a reckless disregard for their own health there are others around them that they can be putting in harm's way and they should think of them.  I. an understand your frustration when the parents that you love and would like to have in your life for the foreseeable future don't seem to think of the consequences of their action.

Washington will be under a full 'stay at home' order for two weeks starting tomorrow. Hopefully that will slow this thing down. A few of our friends have contracted it already.

The stay at home order will not change much for us. I'm hoping to get a few more projects completed in that time. I also need to work on my daughter's confidence on her bike. She's a little afraid of it, even though she rides well. The last place we lived was very hilly and there was nowhere to practice, so I'm hoping that we will have more time here to work on building her confidence.

Levity!  So funny.  Staying out of harms way but working to win.  Awesome program.

Well last night we had a spring snow storm and the ground is thawed so I can't plow, so I just drove round and round the circular driveway to pack it down. Hopefully the last storm of the season and it was the biggest storm of the season, 8" worth. It's been a very strange winter. Packing it down also helps it to melt quicker. Then I made some faux crab salad, and sliced a corned beef that I cooked yesterday. It slices much better after they're cool and have time to set up. So much excitement for one day!

I've been downloading highly-rated subtitled Asian movies (Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai) from YouTube and burning them to DVDs for us to watch.

Share a few names with us. I am a sucker for non-English classic flicks.
