Very approachable for anyone, I can't imagine someone not liking it... Just wouldn't be a first choice if you're looking for a strong burn.

We’re fans of the Cholula lineup in our house, tasty and as you point out, approachable. They won’t take your head off. I’m also a fan of the El YucaTeco brand , especially the Black Label Reserve which has a moderate heat level and a nice smoky flavour. They’re also cheap and readily available.

Thanks Marko , ordered!

Edit: ...and cancelled. Thanks Stubble Daddy .

Any other suggestions on a good smokey / charred sauce? I liked the sound of that one... Not too hot, but a lot of unique flavor.

I use to buy El Yucateco all the time. The MayanXXX, Red and Green were my go-to's....

To be honest, I stopped buying them when I read this report: https://grist.org/food/lead-in-hot-sauce/

Hopefully the issue has been addressed by now, it is great sauce.

Damn.  Thats annoying.  The only updates I could find on line was El Yucateco saying they were shocked and had their stuff independently tested and its all fine.  Surprise?  Who's right?  Who's wrong?  I guess no more El Yucateco for me.  Its about trust and I don't have that now.  Thats fine, there are other brands and I also make a couple of my own hot sauces.  A tomatillo and chile de arbol one that I really like and a pineapple mango habanero one that is also great.  I char the ingredients on a charcoal grill before throwing it all in the vita mix.  I'll post the recipes.  I'm going to try to make the arbol chile one with canned tomatillos next time because fresh tomatillos have been getting harder to find and what I do find has been poor quality lately.  Progress!

Thanks for the information though, I do appreciate it. Happy2

On the subject of Italian hot sauces I found this one at a local Italian grocery store and really like it. Today I just found some in the ethnic food aisle at Walmart a little cheaper priced too Happy2  It’s more of an antipasto than a sauce. Great on crackers or sandwiches.
